A.N. Hey sorry this is so late and short, I'm on vacation and I'm struggling with stuff as well as my summer has been super, duper busy. Hope you enjoy this though!

When I was younger, Malory and I always hung out.

It didn't matter if it was a school night or the weekend, we would always go somewhere or hang out at one of the others house. We would wake each other up with text messages when we had to make it to the bus, which was a mile away from my house, and whenever either of our parents saw the other one just walk through the front door, they never minded.

Never.

And that was the beauty of having a best friend that was a block from each other.

When I learned she was moving, it was a Friday afternoon, and Malory had told me that I wasn't allowed to come over for a while because her mom was really sick and she didn't want to get me sick as well. I didn't disagree because she was looking out for me. But her mom wasn't sick. There were just moving boxes all over her house.

The moment she told me the news I froze. Malory just starred at me, unable to finish talking about where and when. Her mouth was opened, trying to find the words to say, but instead, she just starred at me for a solid five minutes. I was unable to say anything as well. Then we both started crying. She was the first one to, which wasn't normal at all, but not even a second later, I was crying too.

It's not like we never lost contact. Nothing could've stopped our commutation. She was on the other side of the state, and she never had the time or license to come see me, especially through my hard times just beginning.

Yes, I made new friends and they were kind and eventually they helped me through the hard times in person while Malory tried from afar.

So when I saw that she was the visitor that came to see me, I smiled so large that my cheeks hurt. Malory didn't see it because she was starring at her phone, but just seeing her with her brown hair hanging in her face and green eyes just glancing back and forth on her screen, probably reading something, it made me happy. So happy.

If it was my other friends, I would have been happy too, but the fact that Malory was my best, best friend and she was here to see me out of everyone in our friend group, I wanted to cry.

I cleared my throat and that's when Malory looked up, and immediately she put her phone away, stood up and hugged me. We just stood there hugging each other, not caring about the time we had left but soon enough, Malory pulled away and looked me eyes. With a serious tone, she said to me, "Shit has gone down since you've been gone and of course I'm the messenger." Malory sighed. "Fuck, Eve, I don't know how to explain all of it but I have to tell you."

"On a scale of one to ten, how bad is it?" I said, raising an eyebrow.

"It doesn't even belong on the shit-went-down scale."
