The Nara’s Girl

Third Person POV

Kakashi sat on his couch reading his pervy books. Despite being fourteen years of age, he had always had an interest in such topics. Of course no one knew of these, habits, as he would put it.

He had just gotten to the best part of the story. The thunder and rain outside only making the scene more intense, until a knock on his door interrupted the mood.

It was nearly midnight, so no one in there right mind would come over this late. But he got up anyway, stuffed his book in his pocket and exchanged it for one of his kunai. He snuck towards the door in a slow manner.

He opened it quickly, but nobody was there. He went to close the door, but a small cry stopped him. He glanced down to find a cardboard box, soaked with water and barely closed. He opened it up and a small baby layed there in a white cloth.

He picked it up, wrapping the blanket further around the infant, and glanced around the neighborhood for any sign of its parents. When no one was out there, he brought him/her inside. Kakashi set the baby on the couch, quickly changed out of his night clothes and into some ninja gear, grabbed the child and bolted out the door.

He only knew of one person who could help with such a thing. Maybe if it had been before the nine tails attack, he would have gone to his sensei’s house, but it had been a few months since the incident. So he went to his only female friends residence: Kurenai.

She would definitely know what to do. When he arrived, he knocked on the door rather loudly and it took a minute for her to answer. When she answered, she was wearing pajamas. He had forgotten that it was just past midnight and sheepishly rubbed his neck with his free hand.

“Hey, Kurenai. I know it's late but I need your help. It's urgent.” He said. She groaned, but let him in nonetheless. “What do you want, Kakashi? And what are you holding?” She rubbed her eyes and glanced at his bundle.

He gave a nervous chuckle. “Umm, I was reading my book and then someone knocked on my door and I found a baby on my doorstep. I didn't know what to do so I came here.” He mumbled the last part.

She smiled, and then giggled and then started laughing. She tried to get words out between laughs, but had no luck. So he waited for her to calm down.

“That's the funniest thing I've ever heard. I didn't know you could stop being serious and start being so funny.” The brunette wiped away a tear of joy. She stopped her antics when the baby started to cry.

She realized he was serious and squealed in delight. He was right, she loved babies and was most definitely the right person to come to. She plucked the baby out of his arm and rocked it around until it stopped crying.

“Is it a boy or a girl?” She asked, not taking her eyes off of the baby. She scowled when he shrugged so carelessly. She slightly unraveled the blanket and peeked inside. He saw her pull out a piece of paper and stared at her expectantly.

She read the note and smiled. “Looks like you're a new dad to a little girl ‘Mr. Hatake’.” She quoted from the note. He shook his head and waved his hands frantically. “No, no, no, no, no. I am not keeping her. I'm fourteen and she is NOT my responsibility.” He argued.

She smirked and handed him the note. He took it and hastily read over it.

Dear Mr. Hatake,

Please take care of my baby girl. I trust you will be able to take care of her and protect her. I named her Rin. Raise her well, Kakashi.
