Iruka had left a few hours ago. The sun was beginning to set and Rin was still crying. Hiruzen had one of his ANBU send messages to Tsunade and Jiraiya asking them to report to Konoha immediately. The slug queen will arrive tomorrow morning and the toad sage the day after.
Kakashi would be gone for at least another two days so in the meantime, Rin would stay in her room in the hokage tower. Yes, she has her own room. During missions when Mikoto nor Itachi could watch her, she would stay with the Sarutobi.
He carried her down the hall and into a decent sized room, the one in front of his. The room had the basics; a black bed frame, teal and white bed covers and pillows, a black dresser with a few sets of clothes and a small, black nightstand with a clock on it. There was a huge window covered by curtains with the same colours as the bed.
Kakashi never wanted his daughter growing up to love the colour pink or want to prance around in daisies or be all super girly, so he went with neutral things. He wanted her to grow up and live the life of a true kunoichi, not a housewife. Of course he isn’t opposed to the girly aspects in the slightest. He actually asked Kurenai how to do hair and everything on that sort of level.
He wasn’t expecting a punch in the back of the head, though, when she bought Rin dresses and he said they were too girly. That comment had earned him a three hour lecture on how to raise a daughter. He would never admit it, but that talk opened his eyes a bit and he relaxed on things. After that, he started putting her in cute dresses with flowers on them and hair clips with little ladybugs.
And that’s where we return to the story. Hiruzen was changing the child out of her, now red, sundress and into a small nightgown covered in bunnies and printed with ‘Daddy’s Girl’ and placed the sloth on her bed. He cleaned up her face, although pointless as more liquid just kept falling, and pondered over what to do. He could always just knock her out . . . that possibility was becoming more and more plausible by the moment.
If she wouldn't calm down within an hour, about her bedtime at eight pm, he would just follow though with the idea. He walked up and down the hallways, around their bedrooms and in his office. That was, until he came back into his office and saw a few men in there. He muttered a few choice words, remembering the girl's impeccable hearing, and sat down at his desk. He was late for the meeting he had scheduled to discuss, well, the small Hatake’s predicament.
He gestured for all ANBU to leave and once the door was shut, he placed a soundproof seal around the room. Rin was sitting on his lap, arms around her jiji’s neck and face buried in his shoulder, somewhat muffling her wails of agony. The men he had summoned were clan leaders; Shikaku Nara, Fugaku Uchiha, Inoichi Yamanaka, Choza Akimichi, Hiashi Hyuuga, Tsume Inuzuka, and Shibi Aburame. Well, them along with his son, Asuma, his (denied) girlfriend, Kurenai and Might Gai.
“What I am about to tell you must never be mentioned outside of this room, am I clear?” The hokage was serious about this matter and it frightened everyone. No one ever sees this side of him. “Can we get the screaming brat outta’ here, first?” Tsume asked, clearly annoyed at the cries of his granddaughter. He replied with a firm ‘no’ and started rubbing Rin’s back.
“There has been a recent,” He paused looking for the correct term, “observation, over the past week. Hatake is the only other person who knows beside yourselves and I. His daughter has started developing a visual prowess and it seems to be a very painful process. I haven't been able to calm her down since she got here. She's been taking pain medication but it stopped working.” He sighed.
“What kind of prowess?” Fugaku asked, suddenly interested. These monthly meeting usually suck, but this one seemed more interesting. Sarutobi whispered something to the kid and she turned around, her eyes closed and only opened when he nudged her.
