Jasper wrapped his little arms around me as we stood outside the door to our father's home.

As soon as he heard about Jasper's attack a few days ago my father insisted that we move in with him until our own security system is updated.

I only agreed for the safety of my little brother, he is everything.

The door opened suddenly, shocking both Jasper and I. We hadn't even knocked yet.

"Jasper, Raeleigh, come in please. I'm so glad you're finally here!" My father had a wide smile plastered on his face, it was completely fake.

The only person who seemed to notice was me, am I really the only one looking?

We stepped inside, my shoulder subtly brushing against my father's as I walked past him. My brother stopped and gave him a wide smile followed by a hug.

He's too innocent to be caught up in family drama. He is the single purest thing about my family.

"Good to see you too, Raeleigh."

I didn't say anything as my father watched me walk away. I almost ran into Evan as I stepped around the corner to my bedroom.

"Sorry, Evan," I mumbled, stepping back to face him.

"You're fine," He whispered.

He tried to look at the floor, his hair falling in his face and almost hiding the dark bruises along his cheek bone.

"Evan, what the hell?" I asked, tilting his chin up.

"What happened?" I asked, trying to pry an answer out of him.

His mouth fell open, hanging there for a second. He remained silent, his mother coming up behind him.

"Raeleigh, honey, how are you?" She asked, ignoring Evan's begging eyes.

"Obviously better than Evan. What happened, Evan?" I asked again, turning the attention back to him.

"Oh, he got into a fight at some bar. I told him not to be going to those shady places anymore, I don't know why no one listens to me," She mumbled, rambling on as she walked away.

I thought it was my stalker...

Evan just stood there awkwardly as I watched him contemplate running away.

"I'm sorry. I was just scared that... nevermind," I mumbled, smiling before walking past him.

I left my bag in my car for the moment, I usually leave a few sweatshirts here when I leave. I don't actually have time to pack because I usually get sick of my dad's shit and leave in a hurry.

My room is just how I left it last time, the bed is made though. I pulled the blankets back, falling on my bed and rolling over to face toward the window. I peered out, my mind wrapping around the locks of the window and imagining them coming open.

"Hey!"

I jumped as I flipped off of my bed trying to glance at the door.

"Jasper, you scared me bud," I said, laughing as I pulled myself up off of the cold wood flooring.

"Sorry, I didn't mean too," he said.

He ran across the room and jumped onto my bed as I did, laughing when he bounced back off.

"Did dad bring your things in yet?" I asked, brushing his hair from his face.

"No. Mom said she wanted to talk to him for a little bit," He mumbled, pulling the covers over his head.
