Susan was looking a Caspian and he was looking at the small cliff. He turned around, about to say something, when he opened his mouth in shock and ran to Susan. He pulled her behind him; she couldn't understand what was going on until she looked at what Caspian was looking. There, in the shadow of a tree, was a werewolf, a smirk on his mouth and a scar on his shoulder. He appraoched them in silence, still smirking.
"Well, well, what have we here? A son of Adam and a daughter of Eve! Who could expect any better to exchange with the human traitor?" he sneered.
"You are the traitor! You betrayed us! You betrayed your homeland! You and the rest of your race, along with the hags, you don't deserve to be called narnians!" exclaimed Caspian.
The werewolf glanced behind him and six other werewolves appeared, but none were as big as the first one.
"I am Frank, the chef of the police that obeys to the Queen of Narnia. You are under arrest for being on the traitor's side. You shall be released when the exchange between you and the traitor will be done." announced Frank.
Caspian took out his sword and pointed it at Frank. Susan was behind him, she took out her bow and arrows and took her aim. Frank nodded and a first werewolf jumped on Caspian, but Susan shooted him halfway in the air. The second and the third came together, Caspian made a slash on the back of the first one and Susan aimed the second one who ran off, frightened by the arrow. None of the werewolves were killed and Frank did not give up on them.
Peter and Edmund, who were worried about their sister and friend, had settled down with the army for the night, as it was already late in the afternoon, about seven o'clock. They asked three centaurs and two minotaurs to guard the camp and told them that a faun would bring them their dinner at eight and that they would be replaced at nine by other centaurs and minotaurs. Then, they walked back towards the area they had looked behind them, about half an hour ago. It wasn't very far away so in about fifteen minutes, they were on the right spot. It had taken less time with the army to do that distance, but they had horses at that moment, right now they were walking. They walked towards the place where the back of the army was and they saw two sets of footprints were moving away from the rest of the army's footprints. Peter and Edmund blanced at each other and followed the footprints, almost running. They only started running when they herd a female scream. Edmund got out his sword and Peter looked at him and got his out, too. He remembered the day Santa had given him this same sword he was holding and smiled. He looked at Edmund who had a serious look on his face, and suddenly stopped smiling and concentrated himself on what was happening now, not a year ago or hundreds of narnian years ago. Edmund was holding his sword with his two hands; he usually used or his both hands or only his right one. They both approached in silence, Peter in front and Edmund following close behind.
Susan screamed. That was the scream Peter and Edmund heard. Frank had jumped towards her and she didn't have the time to get an arrow out. She squeezed her eyes shut and waited for the bite. But it never came. She opened her eyes to see Caspian fighting Frank. She was really glad the man she loved saved her life. She ran to hug him and she pressed her lips on his as she did. Peter and Edmund arrived at that moment and didn't understand what was happening; they heard a scream! So they looked at them with a confused expression. Susan saw them and realized she chose the wrong moment for kissing. Not that Peter and Edmund were the problem, the werewolf could attack any of them. Before she could say anything, Frank jumped towards Peter and Edmund, they swung their swords in front of them but Frank decided to attack the one called traitor, Edmund. He stood in front of Edmund, Edmund swung his sword at him but Frank avoided it. Frank jumped towards Edmund who blocked the way with his sword, horizontally. Then Edmund swung his sword so that the point of it made a half circle around him, his arms outstretched. Frank backed away and finally decided to run off and, probably, gather the police and come back later.
Peter and Edmund turned their heads towards Susan and Caspian. They were insane! Even Susan, the most cautious of them all, had been so irresponsible! First of all, they hadn't even payed attention at the road and second of all, they kissed in the middle of a fight with werewolves!
"How could you? You are insane! Even you, Susan, the most cautious of us all, you've been so irresponsible! First of all, you haven't even payed attention at the road and second of all, you two kissed in the middle of a fight with werewolves!" Peter screamed, he was so angry at them.
"Pete, calm down..." Edmund whispered, less angry at them.
"Peter, I am sorry but you have to understand, I love her with all my heart and-" Caspian started, ashamed but determined.
"No!" Peter cutted. "No I can't understand! If you loved her you would have payed attention at both the times you have been incautious! You would have payed attention for her! For her safety! You two have been so irresponsible!"
Susan glared at both of them and ran off, waving at Edmund to tell him to come with her. Edmund glanced at both boys and followed his sister to lead her back to the camp where the army was sleeping for the night. Peter and Caspian followed silently, not daring to talk to each other.
When they arrived at the camp, it was about nine o'clock.
"Well, I'm going to bed!" Edmund declared joyfully, trying to lighten the mood.
"I'll just do the same." Peter announced, following Edmund in their tent.
Caspian followed them, Susan sighed and got in her own tent.
