"Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom."

"Wake up Tavena!" Zenaida yanked the covers from over my body. "I made you some breakfast."

"Nadia," I whined. "It's way to early in the morning for me to be woken up out of my sleep."

"Breakfast," Zendaida fanned the bacon under my nose. "I made your favorite, this is the best I could do for you. Now get your little tale up and eat."

I lifted up from my bed, to see her holding a plate of food and orange juice. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." She smiled before plopping down beside me and grabbing a piece of my bacon.

"Sure, you can have some," I said sarcastically, causing her to laugh. "I'm glad to see you doing better Naida."

"I'm glad to be doing better," Zenaida laid down beside me. "I've thought over a few things and I think I'm ready to tell him about the pregnancy."

"What about the situation last-"

"I know that I said I wasn't ready to tell him but I have to be the bigger person and do this not only for myself but for my child." She explained. " I don't want my child growing up wondering who their father is."

"I'm proud of you Nadia," I smiled, placing my plate on the floor. "I will be with you every step of the way. Whatever you need. I got your back Zenaida."

"Thank you Tavena," She hugged me. "This is why you're the only person I can truly trust with everything."

We were interrupted from watching tv when my cellphone started to ring. Zenaida looked over at me with a concerned look.

"Are you going to answer it?" Zenaida asked, watching as I stared at my cellphone.

"It's an unknown number," I stated. "I don't usually answer unknown numbers."

Zenaida grabbed my phone and pressed the answer button.

"Hello, who is this?" She said through the phone, causing me to stare at her.

"I think you might want to take this Tavena," She implied, before handing me back the phone. "It's Mani."

I snatched the phone so quick when she said that name. I didn't expect to hear from him anytime soon.

"Hey baby, how are you doing?" I asked, waiting for him to answer. "Is Gina treating you well out there?"

"Tavena I want to go back with you," Mani spoke through the phone. "Mommy new boyfriend is really mean to me."

"How is he mean to you?" I was now worried that something was happening to my little brother and I can't do anything to change it. "Has he been putting his hands on you?"

"Mommy gave him permission to hit me whenever I was bad but I never do anything wrong to upset them." Mani answered. "I just stay to myself and I still
get into trouble."

It broke my heart what Mani just told me, nobody in their right mind should be touching my little brother and Gina shouldn't be letting that happen either.
