~Liam’s POV~
Once we got into the kitchen, all of us just plopped down on a chair. Savannah stood there quietly, and I realized that there were only 5 chairs at the table.
“Here, Sav, you can sit on my lap,” I said. She slowly made her way over to the table, and carefully sat down on my legs. I could barely feel her sitting there, she was that light. She slowly took a bite of her eggs, and once she swallowed, she smiled.
“These are good,” she said. She had some bacon and pancakes, and she finished a little more than a quarter of everything before she pushed her plate away.
“Aren’t you going to finish?” I asked, my eyebrows pulling together in worry.
“I’m full,” she said. “This is more than I ever got at the orphanage.” Niall looked at her in shock.
“How much did you get?” he asked. She looked down in embarrassment.
“A piece of bread, if I could finish before the kids came and got me,” she said quietly. Our eyes flew wide, and I hugged her from behind.
“It’s ok,” I whispered. “You don’t have to worry about that place anymore. We’re going to protect you our absolute best.” She nodded, and stood up.
“Can I please go to my room?” she asked.
“Honey, you don’t need to ask,” Louis said gently. “This is your house now, too.” She nodded again.
“Have you tried out the laptop or phone?” Harry asked. Her eyebrows pulled together in confusion.
“What laptop and phone?” she asked.
“There’s a bag that was next to your clothes bags,” Niall said. “It was an Apple bag, and it had a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 5 in it.” Her eyes went wide.
“I couldn’t ask for those!” she said. “Do you know how much they cost?”
“Yes,” I said, “and that’s exactly why we bought it. You deserve those.” She shook her head.
“No, I don’t,” she said. “I don’t deserve anything. Just ask the last eight people who had adopted me. I don’t deserve their love, their attention, what they have, what they can get. I only deserve punishment.” She had tears falling down her face, and we were in shock. How could those people tell her that? She deserves everything.
Zayn walked over and hugged her. She hugged back, burying her head into his shoulder as she cried. He rubbed her back, trying to calm her down. Once she calmed down, she looked at us guiltily.
“Sorry about that, guys,” she said quietly, letting her gaze fall to the floor in shame.
“You don’t ever have to apologize for crying,” I said. “Ever.” She nodded.
“I’m just gonna go up to my room,” she said, and walked up the stairs. I looked at the boys and they looked at me.
“I’ll go check on her,” Niall offered. We all nodded, and he made his way up the stairs.
~Niall’s POV~
Once I got to her room, I softly knocked on the door. I opened it and looked to see her curled up on her bed, staring at the wall. I walked over to her and sat down on the side of her bed. She looked up at me, and then looked at the wall again.
“Hi,” she whispered.
“Listen,” I said. “I know it’s scary, going into a new life. Truth is I was scared when the band first started. I didn’t know how everything was going to turn out. But the guys helped me through it, even if they didn’t know, and I love the life I’m living now. We can help you the same way they helped me.”
