"You don't have to meet her." Amy says two weeks later when I drop her off at her place once again.
"I want to." I say.
"But it will be so awkward." Amy says and pouts.
"I'll make it short if you want." I compromise. She sighs.
"Ok fine." She says. I smile and I head to her front door with her. As Amy gets her keys out she turns to me.
"I haven't told her about you so don't be surprised when she is." She says. I chuckle.
"Ok." I say. She sighs again and opens the door.
"Mum! I'm home!" She shouts. A woman comes from a back room.
"Oh, Hello. Amy, who is this?" The woman asks. She is the same height as Amy but does not look like her. Her hair is short and blonde, she has many freckles and fairly thin lips in comparison to Amy.
"This is Harry." Amy says awkwardly. I hold out my hand and it is shaken.
"Nice to meet you." I say and smile.
"Nice to meet you too, I'm Emma." She says.
"Well we have to go to my room and do homework." Amy says and pulls me upstairs. She closes and locks her door.
"I told you it would be awkward." Amy says as she flops into her bed.
"I think you made it awkward, I thought it was fine." I say as I lay next to her.
"Sure." She says.
"So, I'm just Harry?" I ask.
"What do you mean?" Amy asks.
"I'm not 'this is my friend Harry' or 'this is my boyfriend Harry'?" I ask.
"Well, you're neither. What am I supposed to say? This is a guy that I have known for a month who I regularly make out with and that I share a mutual attraction with?" She asks.
"Or you could just call me your boyfriend." I say and run my hand through her hair.
"But relationships ruin things Harry." She says.
"We are literally doing the exact same things couples do apart from not in public or making it official. Two bird's one stone." I say.
"I don't want to ruin this Harry." She says and kisses me. "I actually like you." She says and gently kisses me I move my head up when she pulls away, not wanting us to stop.
"Then let me be with you." I say. "I really like you." I say as I run my hand through her hair.
"I don't know Harry." She says.
"I promise I will not ask you to marry me if you don't want me to." I say. She chuckles.
"It's not that, I still like the whole marriage concept, I just don't believe in happy endings anymore." She says. I sigh and run my hand through her hair again.
"That's sad." I say and gently kiss her. "A girl like you deserves a happy ending." She smiles and kisses me.
"Ok." She says.
"Ok?" I ask.
"Yes you can be my boyfriend." She says. I smile and kiss her, her hair tangled in my fingers. This time our kiss is supported by a new lease. We have mutual permission to do this whenever now, and we have underlying emotion too. It brings a sense of freedom.
"Amy! Dinner is ready!" Her mum shouts. Amy sighs as she pulls away.
"Five, four, three, two..." She says and as she hits one the door opens.
"Are you staying Harry?" Emma asks. I look and Amy gives me a pleading look.
"If you will have me." I say.
"Of course." She says and as she smiles she walks out.
"Thank you, if I had to have another silent meal with her I would scream." Amy says. I smile and kiss her.
"What are amazing boyfriends supposed to do?" I ask. She chuckles and we head downstairs.
