I was sitting in a classroom waiting for the bell to ring. The bell that would signal summer vacation. Everyone was impatiently waiting for the bell to ring. I was too, in way. I was ready for summer, but also not. It's not that I wanted to stay in school, because I didn't. I just didn't want to deal with our unwanted guests. I still can't believe my dad agreed with the judge to let them on the ranch. I thought back to that day.

***Start of flashback***

"Ashlynn, honey. Can you come into the kitchen?" My mom asked. "Sure." I said, putting my book down. That's me, Ashlynn Thomas. I went into the kitchen. I looked to my mom and then dad. They looked serious. My mom also looked worried. "What's going on?" I asked. "Have a seat." My dad said. "Am I in trouble?" I asked. They laughed. "No. Should you be?" My mom questioned. Now I laughed. "No." I said, "Least I can't think of a reason." "Ok." My mom said.

"Well anyway..." My dad continued, "As you know, Mel's Diner burned down." "Yes. Rich, snobby Prep school kids were racing and lost control." I said, "Hitting the gas station pumps. They exploded and caught Mel's on fire." "Yes." My dad said. "Ok. So what does that have to do with us?" I asked. "Well, I ran into Judge Hartman and we got talking. We got onto the subject Mel's and the kids. And how they should be punished." My dad replied. "They should be in jail." I said. "Ashlynn!" My mom said, surprised at my statement, "They're not bad kids. Just made a bad decision." "Ok. Then make them rebuild Mel's." I said. "Well they were. I mean they still are, but some of them can't get along. They were fighting and making more work for everyone. Breaking the siding and ruining days of work they did." My dad started, "So they were kicked off the site. The Judge was trying to come up with a punishment for them. He figured picking up trash on the side of the road was getting off too easy. So he asked me what I thought. I told him I agreed. Picking up trash was too easy. He asked me if I knew of something that was hard work, physical labor and I came up with something."

He better not say what I think he's gonna say. But he did. "I told him that they could come here and work. As you know, working on the farm ranch can be a lot of work. I think it will do them good to do some hard work." My dad said. "No!" I said, "I don't want them here." "Honey, please calm down. You know what happens when you get too upset." My mom said. "Yes, I know, but I really don't want them here! They're rich, spoiled and snobby kids. What if they hurt one of the animals or us?" I replied. "That won't happen. I promise. We talked about this. One wrong move and they're out." My dad said. "Did you even stop to consider my feelings? To think how I'd feel? Whether or not I'd want them here?!" I yelled and started to breathe heavy.

"Honey, calm down. Just breathe." My mom said. "Well, we'll talk about this more later." My dad said. He got up and went outside. My mom rubbed my back to help me calm down. Occasionally, like today I get bad panic attacks. Most aren't too bad, but sometimes they do and I black out.

***End of Flashback***

"Hello, Earth to Ashlynn." My best friend, Leah Bentley said. "Oh, sorry." I said. I noticed everyone was out of the classroom. "It's summertime! You should be out of here by now." She exclaimed. "I'm sorry. I flashed back to the day my mom and dad told me about our unwanted guests. Well, my unwanted guests. I still can't believe my dad is letting them come. He doesn't care about my feelings at all." I said. "So when are they coming?" Leah asked. "Today or tomorrow." I answered. "Do you know their names?" She asked. "No once my dad told me that they were coming, I got mad and wouldn't listen. He went outside. I asked later when they were coming, but that was all. I don't really want to know anything about them. They're Prep school kids who think they're better than everyone else and can get away with everything." I replied. "So true. I was at Hollister one day shopping and these prep school kids told the sales lady that I had no money and was just wasting their time to find my sizes. Of course the sales ladies believed them. I told them I had money. So I grabbed a few things and went up to the cash register to check out and these prep kids told the one lady I stoled something. I was so upset. Of course I had nothing and the sale ladies didn't apologize. So I told that how they treated me, I was going to their district manager on them and also I told every customer how I was treated. A few customers walked out. I looked at the sales ladies and they looked pissed. And I said that they could void my transaction. That I didn't want any of it and walked out." Leah said. "Oh wow." I said. I couldn't believe how rude some people could be. "Yeah." She agreed.

We were now by our cars. "Coming to my house?" I asked. "Absolutely." Leah replied, "Ride horses. Lunch and then swimming and tanning." "Yeah. Sounds great." I said. "I just got to go home first and get my suit." Leah said. "Ok. Sounds good." I said. We said bye to each other and then headed home.
