When we got home, I put on my swimsuit and went outside. I squirted myself with the hose and then jumped into the pool. Max did too. We swam around for awhile and splashed each other. I dunked Max. I laughed as I swam away. He swam over to me and finally dunked me. I giggled. I then looked to Max. "What?" He asked. I moved closer. "I... I...um." I started. We stared at each other and both moved closer. Then we leaned in closer. We kissed. It was a quick kiss, but soon we were kissing again.

"Wow." I said, when we broke apart, "That was..." "Amazing." Max said. "Yeah." I agreed, "Max...I think I'm falling for you." "Me too." He said, "I wasn't planning on it." "Me neither." I said. We kissed again and then swam some more. I got out to tan some. Max swam a little more and then got out.

"Are you feeling better?" He asked. "Yes. The water helped cool me off." I replied. "That's good." He said, "Later we'll go back and eat supper. Then ride some rides." "Yeah." I agreed, "But no Ferris wheels." "Why not?" He asked, "Afraid of heights?" "Yes." I replied. "Oh wow." He said, "Ok. No Ferris wheels." "Good." I said.

In the evening, about 5:30pm, we went back to the carnival. We met up with Leah and her boyfriend, Tyler. We walked around and ate some food. "We were here for awhile." Leah said, "And then it got too hot. So we left to go watch a movie at my house." "Us too. I mean we went  back to my house and swam. Then just watched TV." I said. "Cool." Said Leah.

We played some games to give our food time to digest. Then we went over to ride the rides. We rode a Tilt-A-Whirl, A musical express, a rollercoaster and a few more. "Ferris wheel." Said Leah. "No." I said. "Come on. Time to get over your fear of heights." Said Leah. "No, it's not." I said. Leah and Tyler went on. Max and I stood there. "Will you go on with me? Please." He asked. "No." I said. "Please." He begged and made a puppy dog face. I laughed. "Fine." I said. "Yay." He said. We got on and went around once. Then it went up and again and stopped. It stopped at the very top. "No, no!" I said, "This can't be happening." "It's ok." He said, "You're fine." "No! I don't like heights." I said, feeling a panic attack coming on. Max noticed and turned my head towards his. He started to kiss me. I responded and kissed him back. We kissed until we started moving.

"Thanks." I said. "No problem." He said. We got off and met Leah and Tyler. "See it wasn't so bad." She said. "It was awful. But Max made it better." I said. He smiled back to me. "Well that's good." Said Leah, "Let's get a snack and play some more games. They're gonna close soon since it's getting late and fireworks will soon be starting." "Yes." I agreed.

We got a snack and then played some more games. I saw Cade with friends. He waved, so I waved back. "So...why aren't you with your friends?" I asked. "Well, I didn't really have that many close ones." 'He replied, "I just moved here at the beginning of the year." "Oh ok. Cool." I said. I could sense Max didn't really want to talk about it.

After awhile, we sat on a bench and waited for the fireworks to start. Soon they started and looked really neat. "Wow." I said, "These are great." "Yeah." Max agreed.

When the fireworks ended, we let the park clear out, so when we went to leave, we wouldn't have to fight the crowd. "So what are you doing tomorrow?" I asked Max. "Probably cleaning the stalls in the stables or mowing the grass. I doubt your father would give me two days off." He replied. "Yeah. Probably not. Maybe in the evening we can go for a trail ride." I said. "Sounds good." He said. We said bye to Leah and Tyler. Then headed home. Cade still wasn't home. My parents were upstairs and getting ready for bed. I said Goodnight to them and Max and crawled into bed.

The next day after I ate breakfast, I went outside. Max was mowing the grass. Cade was cleaning the pool and adding the chemicals. My parents were at the track timing the horses. I went down to see how they were doing. "Wildfire is doing well." My dad said. "Cool. I didn't know you were going to race him." I said.  I liked riding him on the trails. "Well, we figured we'd try him out. Don't worry. You can still ride him on the trails." My mom said. "Good." I said.

"So... I saw you with Max at the carnival. Did you have fun?" My mom asked. "Yes, I did." I replied. "Even on the Ferris wheel?" My Mom asked. "Kind of. Max wanted to go on. I was afraid, but he made this puppy dog face. I couldn't resist." I answered. "Ok." My mom said. "Anything else happen?" My dad asked. "No. Not that I can recall." I replied. "Are you sure?" He asked. I wasn't sure what he was getting at. "Well..we saw you on the Ferris wheel." My mom started, "You two got stuck at the top." "Want to tell us what happened?" My dad questioned. I was nervous and afraid what they will think. "Um.. nothing special." I said. "Look honey. We're not mad. Or angry or disappointed. We saw the two of you...kiss." my mom said. "Oh." I said, "It was because I was scared and he was trying to comfort me." "Well, that may be, but I think the two of you like each other." My dad said, "And while I might of been angry at the beginning of summer, I'm not now. I am liking Max. He's changed and becoming a good person." "Thanks." I said. "But just be careful." My mom said, "Because in August, you two will be in two different schools." "I know." I said. I have thought about that. I wasn't sure how it would work out. But I just hoped it would.
