I got home and put my backpack into my room and put on my cowgirl boots. I like wearing them when I ride. Then I headed downstairs. I grabbed a bottle of ice tea and drank some. I went outside to the back deck. I sat on the chair and waited for Leah to come.

"Hey, all ready?" Leah asked. "I didn't even hear you." I replied. "I figured not.  You looked like you were zoned out." She said. I laughed. "Yeah probably. Let's go." I said. So we got up and went to the stable. I saddled up Wildfire and Leah got onto Jasper. We headed down the farm. "So where are your parents?" Leah asked. "I'm not sure. Maybe in one of the barns or at the track." I replied. "Ok." Leah said.

"Ashlynn!" I heard a voice behind us. I stopped Wildfire and had him turn around. It was Pablo Ritter. He was a worker on the farm. "Pablo, hi." I said. "Hi. I was to tell you, your parents went to pick up the two boys from the Prep school. They should be home around 12:30. The prep school doesn't let out until noon." He said. "Oh, ok. Thanks." I said. "You're welcome. You two girls have fun." He said. "Thanks." I said. "Thank you." Said Leah. He headed back up to the farm.

"Wow... they have to go until noon." Said Leah. "I know." I agreed, "But that's good." "Yeah." She agreed, "I wonder what they look like." "I dont care." I said. "Sure you don't." Leah teased. "I don't." I said. But truth was, I was a little curious about them. My dad told me they were boys. I wondered what they looked like, but either way, I still didn't want them here.

We rode down the farm and onto a path into the woods. We rode on that for awhile and came out by a stream. We sat on the bank and just listened to the water flow in the creek. It was so peaceful and quiet. I enjoyed coming back here. I stretched my legs out, but they didn't reach too far. I'm short, about 5'2". Leah was taller than me, but not by much. She was 5'5". We both had dark brown hair and brown eyes. Some people thought we were twins, but nope. Just best friends.

We got up and rode a little further on the trail before heading back. We unsaddled the horses and put them in the stable. Then we headed back to the house. My mom's car was now back. 'Great.' I thought, 'They're here.' "Guess they're here." I said, pointing to my mom's car. "Guess so." Leah agreed. We went in and I saw the door to my dad's office was closed. I went up by it and quietly leaned my head against it to eavesdrop. I heard my dad's voice. It was hard to make out what he was saying, but I think he was going over rules. He and my mom had been making a list. I went back to the kitchen.

"Are they in there?" Leah asked. "I think so. It sounded like my dad was going over the rules." I replied. "Ok." She said. We then started to make some sandwiches. My mom came out. "Hey honey. I thought I heard someone out here." She said. "Yeah. We were just making some lunch." I replied, "So... are.. they here?" "Yes." She replied, "I know you don't like...prep kids and don't want them here, but they are. So try to be nice." "Do I have to?" I asked. My mom gave me a stern look. "Fine." I said, "I'll try."  "Good." My mom said.

"So...what are their names?" Asked Leah. "One is Max Hunter and the other is Cade Carson." My mom replied. "Cool." Said Leah, "How old are they?" "They're both juniors. Well in the fall, they'll be seniors. Just like you two." My mom replied. "Cool." Leah said. "Do you want a sandwich?" I asked my mom. "No, not right now. I'll wait for your father." She replied. "Ok." I said and put all the lunch meat and cheese away.

Leah and I then sat and started to eat. We also had some Utz sour cream and onion chips and raspberry ice teas. "I can't wait to get into the pool and cool off." I said. "I know. It is really hot." Leah agreed.

After a little while my mom came back into the kitchen. Behind her were two boys. "Ashlynn, Leah, this is Max Hunter and Cade Carson." My mom introduced, "Max and Cade, this is my daughter, Ashlynn and her friend, Leah." "Hi." I said. "Hi, nice to meet you." Said Leah. "Hi." They both said after my dad cleared his throat for them to be polite. "Now I expect you all to get along and remember the rules." My dad said, saying the last part to Max and Cade, "Now Tracey will show you to your rooms." They headed off to the living room and upstairs to their rooms.

Max had dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a fitted black tee with black jeans. You could tell he was muscular. He was 5'7". He didn't come across as prep with how he was dressed.  Now Cade on the other hand, looked like a prep kid. But maybe I'm being mean and stereotyping them.  I tried not to. Cade had sandy brown hair and bluish green eyes. He was 5'9" and very muscular, more so than Max. He was wearing a light green polo shirt and gray plaid shorts. He also had on gray flip flops. Max, I noticed had on black sneakers as well.

"Cade is cute." Leah said. "Ugh." I said, making a disgusting face. "Come on. You don't think they're cute?" Leah asked. "No." I said, "Not at all." My dad laughed. I almost forgot he was still here. "Good. I don't want you to find them cute. But I do want to be nice to them and show them around." He said. "Aww...do I have to?" I asked. "Ashlynn..." My dad said, exasperated, "Please. Your mother and I need to go to town and get some groceries and run some errands. So please help out." I groaned. "Fine." I said. "Thank you." He said, kissing the top of my head. "But you owe me." I said. He laughed. "Ok." he said and went upstairs.

After awhile they left and it was just Leah and I. We got on our swimming suits and headed out to the pool. We laid on the lawn chairs to tan. After we got both sides, we figured we were safe to go in. It was about 45 minutes since we ate. We swam, dove underneath and just cooled off, floating on the inner tubes.
