"And where do you think you were?" Cade asked Max, rudely. "On a trail." He answered. "You get to go have fun while I slave away?" Cade yelled. "I was asked." Max replied. Cade turned to me and glared. "And why didn't you invite me?" He asked. "Because I don't trust you. I don't trust to be alone with you." I replied. "What?" He asked, "I don't believe it. You could of asked me along with you and Max." "Well, I'm sorry." I said, "Next time."
I went to walk away, but Cade pulled me close to him and held me tight. "You are such a little bitch! You never liked me. Just admit it." He said. "Cade... you're hurting me." I said, "Please.. let go." "No." He said, "Not until you admit it!" He dragged me into the barn and pushed me into the hay bales. I got up and tried to run away, but he pushed me back against the wall.
'Where was Max?' I wondered. "Please Cade. Let me go." I said. He had me pinned back against the wall and he held my arms at my sides and the way he was standing, I couldn't move my legs to kick him. "No! Not until you admit it." Cade said. "Admit what?" I asked. "Don't play dumb!" He yelled. He was really scaring me. I could feel a panic attack coming. "Admit it! You hate me and want me gone!" He yelled. "If I wanted you gone, you'd be gone by now!" I yelled. "Liar!" He said.
I tried wiggling free, but he really had a tight hold on me. I started to to breathe heavy and soon it seemed like I couldn't get enough air. "P-please Cade." I said between breaths. He just held me. "Quit faking it." He said.
"She's not faking it." Max said, coming into the barn and pulling Cade off me. I fell to the ground. "What do you mean?" Cade asked, "She has asthma?" "No. She gets really bad panic attacks at times." Max replied, "I overheard her parents talking before they left. They were worried. I asked them what they were worried about. They told me. I promised them I'd make sure she didn't get any." "Great! Just great!" Cade yelled. He was upset with himself for causing my panic attack, which he should be. But he was also worried I'd tell and he'd be out of here.
Max bent down and pulled me close to him. "It's ok. No one will hurt you." He said, "You're safe." He was also rubbing my back like my mom did to calm me down. It was helping.
When I finally calmed down, I stood up. "Are you ok?" Max asked. "Yes. Thank you." I replied. "I'm sorry." Cade said, "I had no idea." "No you didn't!" I yelled angrily, "But you still shouldn't of acted that way." "No. You're right. I shouldn't of. I'm sorry." He said, "I really am." I didn't say anything. I just walked out and up to the house.
Cade went back to work. He figured he'd give me some time and space. Max went back to work as well. I just went and took a nap.
Later at night, Pablo and Jane came up to the house. "How was everyone's day?"Jane asked, serving us fried chicken and some mixed vegetables that were cooked. They were eating with us too. "It was good." I said. "What did you do?" Asked Jane. "Read. Then took Max on a trail ride. I'll take Cade tomorrow." I said to make it sound good that Cade didn't come with us today. "Did you have fun?" Jane asked Max. "Yeah, it was so peaceful." He said. Then Pablo and the boys talked about what they got done. Jane and I did the dishes and then her and Pablo headed home.
The three of us sat in the living room. I flipped through the channels. "Hey, look. The fast and the furious is on. Want to watch it?" I asked, slightly giggling. The boys didn't look amused. "Too soon after the race you two were in?" I teased. That earned me a glare. I just giggled. "Ok. No fast and furious." I said, flipping through the channels some more. "How about..." I asked, "Jason Bourne? It starts in about 10 minutes." "Sure." Said Max. "The new one?" Cade asked. "Yes." I replied. "Sure." He said.
"Does anyone want a drink? Or popcorn?" I asked. "No, I'm good." Said Max. "Me too." Cade said. I headed to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of raspberry Ice tea. "Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for not telling Pablo on me." Cade said, "And I'm sorry again." "You're welcome." I said, "Just don't make me regret it." "Don't worry." He said, "I won't." "Good." I said, "So want anything before the movie?" "Sure." He said and grabbed my ice tea. "Hey!" I yelled. "What? There's more." He said. I looked in the fridge. "Actually that was the last one." I said. "Oh. Here." He said. "No, it's fine. If you want it, drink it." I said. "No. You can have it. I'll take a sweet tea." He said. "Ok." I said. We got our drinks and then watched the movie.
"Well, I'm gonna head up and get ready for bed. "Goodnight." I said. "Goodnight." They said.
They next day, I ate breakfast and headed outside. Max was cutting grass and Cade was combing the horses. I sat on the deck reading my book. Leah had to work at the yard sale today. I should go over there and visit her. I got up and headed into the house to grab some money in case I find something to buy. Then I grabbed my keys.
"Where are you going?" I heard a voice ask. I jumped and turned. "My best friend, Leah's family is having a yard sale. I figured I'd go and visit her and see if I want to buy anything." I replied. "Cool." Said Cade, "So...um...did you lie to Pablo? Or will.. will you take me for a trail ride?" "Well, I lied." I said, "But I thought about it. I'll take you." I said the last part quickly seeing as Cade's face looked upset. "When I get back." I said. "Ok." He said. I said bye to him and then left.
