Unexpected Love #1

Ten

Later that night, Max and I went for a trail ride. We rode to the waterfall. "Wow.. this is so beautiful." Max said. "Yes." I agreed. We sat and listened to the water flow. Then we leaned in and kissed.

"So Saturday is my  mom's birthday. You and Cade get the day off to celebrate with us." I said. "Cool. What should I get her?" He asked. "Oh, you don't have to get her anything." I said. "But I want to." He said, "So...what does she like?" "Anything with horses or apples." I replied. "Yeah. I saw the apple curtains in the kitchen. Plus the dish towels." He said. "Yeah. She also loves the white cheddar cheese it grooves." I replied. "Cool." He said, "Thanks." 

Soon it was Saturday and my dad was grilling ham and chicken on the grill. Him and I made my mom breakfast. My dad was grilling and I was making macaroni and cheese, corn on the cob and also cutting up some raw vegetables. Max was helping me. Cade was out helping my dad. My mom was out lounging by the pool.

When everything was ready, we all sat down and started to eat. "You all did a great job." My mom said. "Thanks." We all said. "For dessert, I made a fruit salad." I replied. "Cool." My mom said. "We also have cake and ice cream." My dad said. "Awesome." My mom said.   

We all ate and were full. Cake and ice cream would have to wait a little. The dishes were soon done and we decided to give my mom her presents. From my dad she got money, the Mystic Topaz butterfly necklace she always wanted, new dish towels and new cowgirl boots. Then I got her the horse cookie jar, Apple scented body wash and lotion. I also got her a gift card to Target. She loves Target.

Cade got her a fragrance set. It had lotion, shower gel and body spray. It was a rose scent. Then Max gave her a bag. She opened it up. She pulled out an apple soap dispenser, an apple timer, and then a carved apple from wood. It had a few holes on top to put pens and pencils in it. There was also a wooden horse. "Did you make these yourself?" She asked. "Yes." He answered. "They are so neat. Thank you." She replied, "Thank you everyone." "You're welcome." We said. 

"Something for you." Max said. "You didn't have to get me anything. It's not my birthday." I said. "I know, but I wanted to." He said. He handed me a small bag. I opened it up. Inside were a carved monkey..the one he was carving on the 4th of July, a horse and a cat. "Oh wow... neat." I said, "Thank you." Max smiled. "Glad you like them." He said. I smiled back. "I do." I said, "You are so talented." He smiled again. I gave him a quick hug. 

Later we had some cake and ice cream. Plus some of the fruit salad. We sat outside late into the night just talking, laughing and telling scary stories.

Summer was flying by. Cade left the day before to get things ready for school. I told him good luck and I'd miss having him around. Max would be leaving sometime today. So we were spending as much time together as we could. We rode the trails, swam and just hung out and talked. 

Soon his parents came. "I'm gonna miss you so much." I said. "Yea. Me too. But we live in the same town, so I'll be able to visit at night and weekends." He said. "True." I said, "But it'll be different without you here." "Yeah. It will be. But I'll be back." He said. "Good!" I said. We kissed and then he left. 

The rest of summer I hung out with Leah. We rode horses and swam. It was a lot of fun. We also went shopping and got all our school supplies and clothes. We were soon set for school.

It was soon the first day of school. I put my things in my locker that I wouldn't need until the afternoon. As I was facing my locker, I heard a familiar voice. "Excuse me, miss? Can you help me?" He said. I turned around and was surprised, but happy. "Max?" I yelled and hugged him. Then I gave him a kiss. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "Surprise!" He replied, "I go to school here now. I transferred." "Really?" I asked. "Yes. My parents and I decided prep school wasn't for me." He replied, "I knew for a little while, since I got home, but I wanted to surprise you when I saw you." "Well you did. You surprised me. I am so glad you're here." I said. "Me too." He said and we kissed again. 

I then helped him to get to the office and get his schedule and what else he needed to get filled out for the school. Then I showed him his locker. We had all but two classes together. I was happy. After that we went to find Leah and tell her the good news. Like was so great right now. I was so happy.
