False Promises

“I promise.”

Those words hold no meaning.

False promises drip off your tongue like honey.

Every promise you’ve made,

You’ve broken.

I’m tired of your false promises.

I can’t count on you to be there.

How do I know you’ll keep your word?

I won’t promise anything,

Because I don’t want to be a disappointment.

You put on a false face for others,

But I know your true colors.

False promises leave your mouth every time you speak.

You don’t see how much you’re hurting me.

I’m done listening to your false promises,

I’m done with “I promise.”
