Klaus

"I think I'm gay," Blake said nervously.

Klaus put his arm around Blake's shoulder. "Awesome. I'm bi."

Blake blinked. "What?"

"It's awesome that you told me, Blake. I'm glad you trusted me. And I, too, am a part of the wonderful LGBTQ+ community ."

"What?" Blake repeated.

"I am bisexual. I am sexually and romantically interested in men and women."

"W-wow. I didn't- that didn't go at all the way I expected."

"Did you expect me to not be your friend anymore or something?"

"I mean, I didn't know how you felt about homosexuality."

"I'd never just abandon you."

"My parents are pretty against it."

"Oh, man, Blake, I'm so sorry. My sisters and my friends are totally cool with it."

"My dad refers to 'the fags' as the root of the trouble in the world. My mom is always telling me to watch out for homosexuals."

"Damn, Blake, that sucks."

Klaus and Blake talked and talked, sitting on Klaus's bed.

Two weeks later, Klaus asked Blake to go get coffee with him.

"Like- like a date?" Blake asked.

"Yep," Klaus said unashamedly. "A date."

Blake said yes.

Coffee turned into dinner on Saturday night.

Dinner turned into a movie on Sunday afternoon.

Which led to many after-school cuddle sessions in Klaus's room.

Which led to a rather awkward dinner with his siblings and Blake. Sunny told Blake that if he hurt Klaus in any way there would be hell to pay. Blake remarked to Klaus upon leaving the room "Your sister is very nice," just loud enough for Sunny to hear.

Violet very much approved of Blake.

Sunny did as well. She thought that he was different enough from Fiona.

Beatrice liked seeing Klaus happy. Plus, Blake made her laugh.

Blake made Klaus the happiest he'd ever been. Until Klaus was 12, his life was amazing, but he was only a child. From the age of 12 until now, when he was 17, he'd been feeling empty, helpless, angry, sad. Since he'd met Blake, he felt- better. He felt hopeful.

Fiona had made him feel momentarily happy. Then incredibly sad.

Blake wasn't like her. Blake was different.

Blake was amazing.
