AT ALL COST

THE REVEAL

Renae's Pov

I had left the American soil and followed West to Britain undetected. I knew where he was staying and I had every intention on keeping a close eye on him. The potion that I had been giving him would not last the entire trip and I had to make sure that nothing triggered his memory. I didn't have to worry about him meeting his mate she could anywhere in the world and for that I was grateful but there was still a chance that something else could happen and being who I am I don't take chances. I got off the plane and took a taxi to the hotel I had booked for myself not to close to the one my husband was staying in. I couldn't risk him seeing me and thinking I had defied him, he would not be happy.

"Room for one please" I told the clerk. 

"Yes mam. How long will you be staying?" he asked politely.

"Umm a few days" I said handing him my card. He swiped it and handed me my room key. I took the elevator up to my room and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. After dropping my things off I decided to head over to West's hotel. Thankfully nobody knew me around here so I wouldn't have to worry about him being tipped off. With any luck I would be able to slip him some more potion without him knowing. 

I watched from outside and tried to make sure there was no sign of him in the lobby before I walked in. What I saw made me nearly pass out. My breath caught in my throat and it felt like I was having a heart attack. All of a sudden everything started spinning and I had to run over to the nearest trash can to vomit. I held on to the wall for support and all I could think was that this couldn't be happening. Lacey was alive, and she was with West. 

I wanted to scream, I wanted to go hunt down everyone of those rogues and do unspeakable things to them for being so incompetent. This wasn't supposed to happen, not when everything was so perfect. Everything I had worked so hard to accomplish would have been ruined if I didn't show up. Why the hell couldn't I keep them apart? I had to think of something and fast before things got out of hand. The only solution would be the one thing I never wanted to do. If I was going to end this once and for all I was going to have to get rid of Lacey for good, it was the only way. 

Lacey's Pov

I tried to get West off my mind. I really did, but it was hopeless. I was sitting in my room alone and trying everything to distract myself but nothing worked. 

"Go to him" my wolf urged.

"You know we can't"

"Why not?"

"Because he's not ours" 

I could feel her wimper at those words and if I could see her I know she would be curled up in a ball. I felt the same way but there was nothing either of us could do. He belonged to someone else and we would just have to wait for our true mate to come alone and end the pain.

"But I feel like I need him. I can't explain it" she whined.

"I know, me too. We'll just have to cope" I dragged myself out of bed and decided to go get some fresh air to clear my head. Maybe I could catch a glimpse of him and I would feel a little better. 

When I got off the elevator some one ran right into me. The impact made me loose my balance and heel on my shoe broke. 

"O my goodness I'm so sorry I was so distracted I didn't see you there" I noticed she was holding a squirming child and I smiled.

"It's okay I understand. Don't worry about it. These shoes are replacable. You have a beautiful baby by the way" she smiled back and sighed in relief. 

"Thank you. I know how most women would have reacted and I'm glad you're not one of them"

"No problem. Bye little one and try not to give Mommy too much trouble" I said cooing to the little boy. He stopped fussing and smiled at me. My heart melted a little, he really was adorable and she was a lucky woman. 

She went on her way and I was about to head back up to my room to change my shoes when a voice stopped me. 

"Would you like to join me?" The voice was low and husky. Even though the person had asked a question it came out as more of a demand. I didn't have to look to know who it was, West. I turned around there he was. He held out his hand to help and I took it half hopping half walking to the table, my shoes could wait.

West's Pov

After spending some time in my room I needed a distraction. Thoughts of Lacey ran through my mind and I couldn't stop them. I decided to head down to the lobby and maybe grab a bite to eat before asking the clerk if there was a gym around where I could blow off some steam. 

I took the elevator and went to find a table. I sat by myself looking over the menu. All of a sudden I heard a commotion coming from near the elevator. A lady was holding a baby and she had ran into Lacy. I had the urge to run over and make sure that Lacy was okay but I resisted. I couldn't take my eyes off them though as I listened to their conversation. Lacey had lost her balance and broken her heel. I was surprised to not hear a curse word come from her lips as she looked up and smiled at the woman. I found myself smiling with her. I closely as Lacey told the woman that her shoes could be replaced. The woman looked relieved and I was watched in awe as she handled the situation with grace. What really got my attention though was the way the baby reacted to her. He seemed to calm down when she cooed to him, he even smiled. She was such a natural, for some reason that was something Renae seemed to lack. She didn't possess that maternal instinct that I expected from a Luna. 

Before I could stop myself I was asking her to join me. My wolf wanted to be around her and so did I. When she began making her way back to the elevator I just couldn't let her walk away. She accepted my offer and I helped her sit down. I felt something like a slight tingle but I ignored it. After that my wolf got extremely quite. I for one was glad she wasn't to concerned about her shoe because I was certain I would have followed her to her room and to be honest I'm not sure about where that would have led.

The waitress returned and took both of our orders and we made small talk while we waited on her to return. I noticed she was nervous around me and I found it cute. 

"Well I guess I should head back to my room" she said with a shy smile.

"Yeah me too" I wanted to ask when I could see her again but I knew it was wrong for me to get so attached to her. The more time I spent with her the more I wanted her. 

 We both stood up and I looked into her eyes. She was so beautiful. 

"You guys make a lovely couple" an elderly woman said pulling me out of my trance. I should have told her that we weren't together, that we weren't a couple, that I had a son and wife but I couldn't. Instead we both smiled and stared at one another. The worse part was I didn't even feel bad about it. What was wrong with me?

"Ummm so I guess I'll see you around" she said barely above a whisper.

"I guess so" 

She pushed the button on the elevator and I should have just walked away, maybe even taken the stairs but I stood there with her. What she did next both shocked me and changed my life. Just as she was about to step in she ran up to me and kissed me. It wasn't a long kiss but I felt it. When our lips touched something happened. It was like I had been released from some sort of trance and I was seeing her for the first time. She pulled away and it hit me. One look into her eyes and I knew, she was my mate.
