Nine - First Day at Work

Today's the first day at work. I'm wearing ripped black skinny jeans and a red crop top. One of the other workers will be giving me my nametag today. It's about to be eight so it's time to get going. The theatre is in the middle of the town where all attractions are at. I put on my black vans, tighten my ponytail and head out of my room and out of the apartment. I hope today goes well, so to get there early instead of walking on foot I take the bus which is like a fifteen minute drive. It's silent in here, an early morning Saturday, everyone should be asleep taking a break from the world. I look out the window and see it's still cloudy.

Once I get to my stop it's a five minute walk to the theatre. I walk on the sidewalk as fresh morning air breezes past me. I dig my hands in my pockets and continue walking. Several people pass by me. Then out of a sudden the feeling of someone watching me creeps in the atmosphere. I look behind and nothing unusual is there, people just walking. I turn back and then I see that hot neighbor pass by me. We both then catch glimpses of one another. He doesn't smile, he smirks and continues walking.

I look back once more and so does he, his eyes are watching mine and I'm watching his. That's when he faces away and my face becomes hot. I'm pretty sure it's turning red as well. Next thing you know I'm in front of the theatre. I knock on the glass doors since it's currently closed. A figure approaches and it turns out to be Dion. He opens it and I walk inside. "There's the girl Ari! First day at work! It's gonna be dope. Don't worry. You already got training. So how you feeling?" He rubs his hands together.

"Nervous. Who else is working?"

"About twenty are working today. It's a new movie premiere so things will be a little hectic especially at night. For the morning you're gonna do snack duty, in the noon you'll do clean up duty, and in the night you'll handle the tickets."

"Teehee- you said duty!" I joke playfully acting like a kid and he nudges me.

"It's not that funny chill." Dion states.

"It was a joke man chill." We finally arrive at the back of the lobby where they sell all those snacks. The smell of popcorn filled the air. Then someone rises from the counter settings cups on it, "What Zoe?!"

"Ariana! You're the new worker!" Zoe smiles and gets out from the counter to come and hug me. "Oh my God. This is gonna be so much fun. Your first day with me!" She takes me behind the counter. "Oh I forgot hello Dion." Dion waves his hand.

"Well I'll leave you girls to it. We're opening up soon make sure this whole area is ready. Today we making money."

"Ariana get this girl some popcorn!" Zoe shouts as the entire crowd of people are in line impatiently waiting. It is packed I tell you. The morning was alright, going good, then around two pm everything started going crazy. It's almost four soon. I quickly get a tub and open the glass window. I scoop up popcorn and toss them in the tub, afterwards I race to the butter machine and pour it all over. I give the girl her popcorn and she pays. "Um- Joe can you make more popcorn. We're gonna run out soon." I tell my other co worker as he nods and sets away. It's only five of us back here with about fifty people.

A scream occurs and I look back to see Zoe has spilled some ICEE on her shirt. I walk up to her and get a cup filling it with the slushie. "I got you girl." I pull the lever as the thick blue material swirls in the cup once it's finished I give it to a man who has already payed. "Zoe it's so packed imagine when it's night!"
