My seventeenth birthday was right around the corner. Yesterday my mom asked me if I had plans and like every year, I told her No. Every year, we go out to the mall and then to the local diner on my birthday. Not much, but quality time with your mom is always good.
Me and my mom were in the kitchen making breakfast. My mom was mixing the brownie batter and I was making cinnamon french toast. Yum. After twenty minutes, we were done. Mouthwatering aromas wafted in the room. Grabbing a plate and a fork I was about to dig in those yummy French toast when the doorbell rang. I groaned, who could it be? Liz usually comes around 11am and it's 9:30 so it couldn't be her. Annoyed yet curious I slowly made my way to the door. I opened it to find Liam standing there alone.
"Uhm, yeah?" I said awkwardly. I was surprised to see him alone. He always came with Chace and Zac.
"I was passing by the local diner and I bought pancakes. Maybe we could have breakfast together." He looked flustered. He was scratching his neck. I've never seen Liam like this. He was always goofy and confident.
I couldn't resist the sound of pancakes. So I did what sane humans would do, I invited him in.
"Honey, who's there?" Mom asked from the kitchen.
"A surprise guest who bought us pancakes." I yelled cheerily.
"Then what are you waiting for? Lead him in here!" My mom shouted back excited.
See I told you pancakes are the best.
I led Liam to the kitchen.
"Hey Rose." Liam greeted my mom.
"Hey Liam, the wonderful person who bought us pancakes." Mom said while grabbing a plate and fork for Liam.
We ate in silence, not that I'm complaining. I moaned as I devoured every single bite. These were so good honestly.
"Okay, kids I'm running late. See ya later.'' Mom said kissing my forehead.
Liam and I were also done eating so I picked the plates and placed them in the dishwasher.
"So what to do now?" I asked Liam.
He moved closer.
"Let's watch a movie together?" We were now standing inches apart.
I gulped remembering what happened at the tree house. After watching suicide squad which by the way ain't bad, Zac decided we watch IT. Not a good experience honestly. I advise you not to watch that movie. I was clutching Zac's arm so tightly I was afraid it'll rip off. Zac hugged me till the movie ended to calm my nerves.
"I'll pick the movie then." I replied meekly.
"Whatever you say Zoe." Liam said standing so close his breath fanning my ear.
I pushed him slightly and went to the living room. Deciding we'll watch Kung Fu Panda today. Yes I'm a 16 year old soon turning 17.
Liam soon joined plopping down on the sofa. I joined him.
