I took a deep breath trying to stay calm while trying to process everything that was going on around me. "Please tell me her face is fine," I thought to myself as I tried to stay below the 50kmp speed limit.
It was 1am in the morning and it was supposed to be my little sister Disney themed bachelorette party. Her second to last night as a "single pringle" and here I was driving like a mad person as my little sister and her band of dumb, drunk and highly entertaining group of friends, including some of our first cousins were laughing about the fight they got into back at the pub.
Okay, maybe a pub wasn't the best place to go and get drunk dressed as Disney charaters but what else was there to do in this small town. I pulled up to the Emergency department of Claireview hospital and ran inside, in 6inch highheels to say the least, to grab a wheelchair.
As I pulled the wheellchair outside I notice my sister lying face down on the concrete laughing hystrically along with the rest of the drunken group.
"Caz!" I screamed as I ran over to her. (Still in 6 inch heels may I just add.) "What are you doing on the ground?" I tried to turn her over but she was laughing so hard that even I had to laugh at this awful predicament I had just landed myself in. After a good five minutes of trying to get her into the damn wheelchair she finally managed to sit in the wheelchair without fussing because of how 'uncomfortable' the wheelchair was on her bum.
So here I was, pushing my sister into A&E knowing that I was going to be the one who was going to get an ear full. Not only from my Father and my Mother but from Caz's husband to be. "Hello, um...sorry my sisters either broken her ankle or its sprained." I said loudly at the glass as the resepitionist sat laughing, clearly amused at the situation that had just bursted through the doors.
"Okay, if you can fill out her details on this sheet and return it. The doctor should be ready soon." She smiled a professional smile and I looked down at her name tag, it read Charlotte. "Thanks Charlotte." I said while staring at her name tag. I don't know why but I couldn't look her in the eyes, I was far to embrassed by the whole situation. I was standing in my Beauty and the Beast inspired outfit, as Belle, I looked down and sighed a heavy sigh as I knew my night was just begining. I took an empty seat near the doors leading into the A&E area.
"Cameron, you're not going to tell Dad I'm drunk are you?" Caz said. Caz or Carol, if you were going to call her by her real name which she hates, is my little sister shes 24 years old and is the baby out of four children.
"Caz, do you have any allergies?" I said while ignoring her question.
"Please Cameron! You dont tell dad." She yelled loudly which made everyone silent.
"Caz keep your fucking voice down," I hissed at her. "You know I don't have a choice! You know you're Dad's favourite!" I looked towards the reseption desk to see if Charlotte was still sitting there. She was and she was staring too hard at the computer screen. Great now the receptionist was listening to our family feud. I instantly glared back at Caz who was now staring at me with tears filling her eyes.
Her chin was starting to wobble while she spoke, "Why are you yelling at me?" She looked at me with the biggest eyes in the world and started to cry. Not just a soft cry, it was a loud drunken cry which I have to say I've used plenty of times during my many drunken stoopers. I couldn't help but feel bad after all she was my Baby sister. I reached my arm out and pulled her wheelchair to me. I gathered her small body into mine and hugged her. I looked over her shoulder at Carlotte the receptionist and made a gun with my index finger then my middle finger and raised the pretend hand gun to my temple and fired a pretend shot through my head.
The Hens party members sat in silence then looked at Caz then back at me and errupted in laughter. Emily our cousin from our Mum's side looked over and said, "OMG you two are diffinately sister!" I knew what she was refering to. I spent many, many drunk nights on her toilet floor crying about the issues I have with my Father. I looked over at her and tried to hide my smerk but failed.
After finally getting the girls to calm down and to eat their packet of chips I had brought from the vending machine, I had finished the form and handed it in at the desk. I looked up at the clock hanging on the wall and noticed that it was just going onto 1.30am. Yep this is going to be a very long night.
