The quiet drive was peaceful, the green hills rolled pass and over the horizon in my rearview mirror, the cold air rushing through the crack in the window drying my tears of shock, anger and fear.

I have never been afraid of my father, yeah he was hard on me but I've never known anything else. The hostility became more evident when I decided I wouldn't follow in my lovely fathers footsteps of becoming a doctor but instead a inforcer of the law...a police woman.

A career my Father deemed as unacceptable for a Henderson.  What had gotten into my father in the last 24 hours?

I've never really had conflict in my life, it was such an alien concept to me. The sound of the slap resonated through my head, repeating the airy silence that had followed closely after.

After getting lost in thought I had finally regained my composure. Where to now? I can't drive around all day...or I could...but the petrol isn't what it used to be. I could indulge in 3 bottles of wine and watch Modern Family right from season one.

Ugh! Or I could make good use of my time and finish my paper work. Why do I have to have such a good and responsible consience? Damn you Mother and Father!
