Kaya pov:
I was woken up by the sound of heavy breathing. Scrunching my face a bit, unhappy about the disturbed sleep, I took a moment to open my eyes and look at the satin bed cover in front of me. It took me a moment to recall that I had fallen asleep in Lord Sil's room after treating the wound across his chest. When the previous happenings rushed through my mind, I bolted upright.
I let out a groan feeling a strain in my arms from the weird position I had been sleeping in. I rotated my shoulders while applying a bit of pressure on them to regain some flexibility. When I had basic movement returned to my limbs, I looked to the side at Lord Sil as he lay on the bed, face scrunched up, brows deeply furrowed and his breathing coming out short and ragged. He was drenched in sweat and beads of the salty water were running down the sides of his face.
He moaned while turning his head to the side a bit. He scrunched up his face more and I noticed his eyes dart rapidly from side to side behind his closed lids. He kept tensing every now and then and letting out startled gasps.
I stood up and leaned over him a bit. I removed the nearly dry cloth on his forehead and moved some of his hair to the side. He moaned again and just as he had done before, leaning into my hand slightly.
"Lord Sil? Lord Sil, wake up." I said and gently shook his shoulder.
"No...." He mumbled in a strained groan. "You can't...."
I frowned at his sleep talking. What in the world was he dreaming about? I don't think he was having a pleasant dream because the way he was reacting – sweating, frowning and breathing heavily – weren't signs of a pleasant dream. He was having a bad dream, how bad though I wasn't sure.
"Lord Sil, wake up. You're just dreaming." I shook his shoulder gently again but it only seemed to cause him to tense up even more than before.
"I won't let you....no!" He mumbled louder than before and turned his head to the side quickly. "Blood....kill them! Kill all of them!"
I took a step back startled at the worlds that left his mouth as well as the violent jerk his body gave. He had slapped my hand away from his shoulder and the back of my hand where his hand had made contact burned. I'm sure the sudden movement caused his wound to hurt because he sucked in a sharp breath and gave an expression of pain. He settled down seconds later while gasping for air like a fish out of water. But his tensing and sudden jerky movements didn't stop – they got more and more violent and his gasping began to turn into choking.
"You can't....kill....me! I will....survive! Blood....I will not....no....NO!" He jerked again and began to hyperventilate.
Whatever nightmare he was having was really taking a toll on him. He was thrashing around now slightly and the bandages I had wrapped around his chest and torso were starting to turn red again. I had to stop him, I had to get him to wake up and calm down. If it didn't, I was sure he was going to choke and his wound would hemorrhage too much.
He was probably feeling very vulnerable at the moment. After the assassination attempt, the lack of care or concern from his family and his distrust towards every single person in the castle including the healer who could have helped with his treatment, I wasn't too surprised to see him having nightmares of being attacked again. Besides, Theo had told me that his entire life was filled with corruption and darkness and didn't give him the chance to have the innocence a regular child would have had. I wonder how many nights he spent having nightmares and disturbed sleep like this.
