Kaya pov:
I groaned, not quite happy to have been woken up from my sleep by noisy commotion. It had taken me a very long time to fall asleep because I couldn't help worrying about how things would go with Lord Sil and the assassin. I was restless and irked because of the lack of sleep and rest for my tired body and I was definitely not happy to be woken up so soon.
Groaning again, I brought the lumpy pillow over my head in an attempt to muffle out the noises I could hear from outside the room. However, the thought of Lord Sil that passed through my mind moments ago and which I had passed off momentarily made me bolt up into sitting position. The pillow and the blanket fell off of me and I blinked several times as I stared at the slightly mossy wall in front of me.
"You're awake? It's hard to sleep with all this noise, isn't it?"
I looked to the side and saw Hale sitting up as well while leaning against the wall. He was ruffling his bed hair and he looked sort of annoyed.
"Hale....what's going on outside? Why is it so noisy?" I asked him, hoping he would know the reason for the commotion.
I doubt that mornings would be so noisy in the Art House. Every morning in Silverwyvern Castle wasn't like this – people would be scuttling around getting ready for the day but none of them would be talking so much.
"I don't know...." Hale sighed and stood up.
He gave himself a stretch and walked out of the room. I followed suit after running my fingers through my hair to make sure it didn't look like a bird's nest. When I made it outside, all the Arts were huddled in groups and talking seriously amongst each other. The atmosphere was tense and many of the Arts looked nervous too.
I spotted the girl who had escorted us through the castle yesterday and I made my way to her. She wasn't talking to anyone and she was standing by herself near the compound wall and looking off into the horizon beyond the sea. Her eyes were furrowed deeply but she didn't seem angry.
"Um, excuse me?" I said hesitantly as I stepped closer to her. "Could you tell me what's going on? What's everyone talking about?"
She looked my way, staring at me for longer than necessary and then sighed. She pushed the wall and walked past me without answering my question. I was mildly taken aback by how I was ignored but all I could do was watch the girl's retreating form.
"Kaya! Where is the Art named Kaya?"
I tensed for a moment when a Supreme butler suddenly rushed into the Art House and called out for me. I didn't hesitate from making my way through the group of people standing around to reach the butler. He gave me a nod, as if motioning for me to follow him, turned around and walked away in a quick pace. I followed him into the castle, jogging every now and then to keep up with his fast pace.
What was going on? What was with this tension in the air? What had happened? Perhaps, did this have something to do with Lord Sil and the assassin?? Was he hurt? Or in worse cases....no, I don't think it was right for me to be thinking negatively right now. In fact, I shouldn't think about anything at all.
But a nervous tightness settled in the pit of my stomach at the thought of something having happened to Lord Sil. He had drunk my blood yesterday and he was at his peak of power so there was no way he would have let his guard down and got hurt, right? He said he would be ready for the assassin! Besides, he's the strongest of the Supremes! There's no way he would have lost to anyone else. He had to be okay.
I returned to the present when we turned a corner and made it to a corridor where a lot of Supremes were gathered. They were all talking amongst each other with looks of anger, sadness and fear and it caused the worst possible thoughts to brood in my mind. I swallowed thickly as we got closer to them and I heard bits and pieces of what they were saying – most of it wasn't pleasant to hear.
