Y O U got out of bed slowly as you tried your best not to wake him. Glancing over your shoulder you checked to see if you succeeded, and you smiled at the sight of him laying on his back with an arm above his head and his eyes closed. He seems so peaceful.
You walked over to where your clothes were and began to dress yourself.
"I like watching you get dressed." Bellamy said as you were putting on your shirt.
You smiled and turned to look at him. "I thought you liked watching me get undressed."
"That too." he replied and held his hand out to you. You walked over to him and took his hand. He gently pulled you towards him and you took a seat on the bed next to him. He kissed you softly and then pulled away from you just enough so that he could look into your eyes.
"You okay?" you asked, noticing his furrowed eyebrows. He was trying his best to hide whatever was on his mind, and he was tired of hiding things from you but he had no other choice. There were some things he just couldn't tell you. But you knew him well enough to know when something was wrong. You two had known each other since you were very, very young. You had practically grown up together. Bellamy kept to himself for the most part, but things with you had always been different. You had somehow been able to get through to him in a way nobody else had.
He nodded. "I was just thinking about how different things could be." he said as he interlocked his fingers with yours.
"Different?" you asked, confused.
"Yeah. If we weren't confined here with limited freedoms. If we could make decisions for ourselves, instead of things already being decided for us."
"Things like what?" you asked, curious as to why this was being brought up and where this conversation was headed.
"Like our families. For it not to be a crime to simply exist." he said, looking away from you. You simply nodded and gave his hand a squeeze, not exactly sure what to say. You wanted to say something, but at the same time you didn't want to interrupt him. "I wish we could at least control that part of our lives."
"I know. Me too." you said softly as your ran your fingers through his hair.
Bellamy took your hand in his and kissed it. "I've thought about how our lives would be. Before the end of the world, if we would be living on the ground."
"Yeah? What does it look like?" you asked with a small smile.
He leaned back and laid down on the bed, focusing his eyes on the ceiling. "We'd live in a big house with a backyard. And we could have our families over on the weekends." He paused as he searched your eyes. Your parents had been floated years ago for things that you didn't believe warranted their death but that was life on the Ark. He knew how much losing them had hurt you, how lonely you felt after they were both gone. But you were never alone, Bellamy was always there. He was and always would be your family and so much more. You smiled at him, letting him know you liked that version of your lives and that you wanted him to continue. "And we'd have kids."
"Kids?" you asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah." he said sitting back up and propping himself up on his elbow. "I'd want them to experience what it's like to have a brother or a sister."
"Since we don't get to experience it." you said with some sadness.
"Yeah, exactly." Bellamy finally said after a moment of silence.
"It must be a beautiful experience." you continued, wondering what life would be like with a brother or sister and forever lamenting the fact that you would never find out.
He tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear and nodded. "Yeah, it must be." he said with a small smile. "But hey, I've got you and that's more than I could ever ask for."
"I feel the same way about you." you told him with a smile. Bellamy always demonstrated how much you meant to him, but he rarely expressed his feelings for you verbally for whatever reason. So whenever he did it was something really special to you.
"I love you, [y/n]." Bellamy said with intensity, looking straight into your eyes.
"And I love you." you said, meeting his intense gaze. "That'll never change." He nodded and smiled at you. "I have to go, but I'll see you tonight?"
"Yeah, of course." he replied.
"Okay." you said with a smile before kissing him goodbye and walking towards the door. Before walking out you stopped and turned to look at him. "I have to admit I've thought about how different our lives would be down on the ground. Before it all went to hell. And it looks exactly the way you described it." He smiled and you walked out the door, gently closing it behind you.
Bellamy laid back down and once again stared at the ceiling, hating the fact that he had to hide such an important part of his life from you. He sighed in frustration, wishing he didn't have to, wishing that he didn't have to hide Octavia. That she could live, freely. As freely as life on the Ark would allow. But that was impossible.
But he'd try to find a way. He owed it to Octavia.
