B E L L A M Y had been distant the past few days. He didn't say much and he barely met your eyes whenever he did speak to you. You were patient with him, understanding that he was going through something incredibly difficult.

He had been demoted from Ark Guard Cadet to janitor. And whenever he walked through the Ark the people whispered as he walked by, the same way they whispered when you walked down a hallway. But it didn't bother you, you were more concerned with how Bellamy was dealing with it.

You sighed as you straightened up your room. You hated not being able to do anything to help Bellamy. To help his family. You hated feeling like this. Useless. That's when the door opened and Bellamy walked in slowly, closing the door quietly behind him.

He turned to face you with teary eyes. You stood frozen in place, knowing what he was here to tell you. He finally broke his gaze from you and took a seat at the table. He slouched in the chair with his hands in his lap.

"She's uh-" Bellamy began, but stopped to take a deep breath. "She's gone." he finished.

"Bellamy, I'm so sorry." you said softly, tears forming in your eyes.

He looked up at you, unable to hold back his tears anymore. "It's my fault, [y/n]."

You shook your head. "No, don't do that to yourself." you said as you walked over to him and sat next to him. You placed a hand on his cheek and turned him towards you. "It's not your fault."

He reached up and took a hold of your hand. "They won't let me see her." he said desperately, his voice breaking. "They won't let me see Octavia."

"We'll figure that out, I promise." you said.

He nodded and tears spilled from his eyes. You pulled him close and held him tightly as he sobbed, finally breaking down. It hurt you to see Bellamy like this, it hurt you beyond words could express. And it made you angry.

You kissed Bellamy's forehead and ran your hand up and down his back soothingly as you tried to comfort him. You blinked back your tears, knowing you had to be strong for him. He needed you now more than ever. He was looking at your for comfort and strength and you were determined to provide it for him.
