The ball was Friday night and Olivia woke up early Thursday morning to her phone ringing.
It was Melody and she sounded pretty pissed off.
Olivia rubbed her eyes trying to wake herself up as she heard Melody moan about her brother coming back home. Her and her brother were close but they constantly wound each other up. Olivia remembered last summer and all the memories she made in Melody's garden, hanging out with her and her brother, Jordan. It was a long time since she'd seen him.
She got up out of bed and went downstairs into the kitchen. She places her phone on the kitchen counter and puts it on speaker. She makes herself some cereal, while listening to Melody.
"He told me he thinks that I'm wasting my time in Rosewood, what does that even mean? He can't exactly talk, his whole life is a gap year." Melody went on ranting.
I poured myself some cereal and sat down on a stool and started eating.
Melody moaned in frustration. "First I've got him back home telling me what's what, and now we've got to hand over some key to A at the Winter Ball tomorrow night. We don't have any key. Why does A think we have some key. Maybe we should just make a key and give it to A, then we can finally expose the bitch."
Olivia got up to pour herself some orange juice. "Look, Mel. A clearly thinks that we have this key, we've got to trick A into thinking we have it while we actually figure out what this key is. I'm going dress shopping for the ball after school at the mall, wanna join?"
"Yeah sure, I could use a break from everything at home." Melody replied, and sighed, sounding tired.
Olivia said bye and hung up the phone. She made her way upstairs to her room and started to get ready for the day.

Once Olivia and Melody bought their dresses, they each went home. Olivia went straight back to her room, watching the videos again.
This time, it was different. She noticed something, that she hadn't before. In the video of Alison's bedroom. She played it in slow motion this time and she watches as Alison sees something outside her house and locks her bedroom door. And goes over to her bookshelf and picks something up. Olivia pauses it and zooms in. Alison was holding a key.
How had she forgotten about that. She knew it was bad quality but she clearly wasn't paying close enough attention before.
She watched Alison unlock a vent on her floor next to her bed and opened it and that's when she noticed the camera. Olivia paused it and sighed. The key must be in her room somewhere.
She sat back against the edge of her bed, stretching out her legs in front of her on the bedroom carpet. She knew that if she was to have that key, she would need to go into Alison's room to get it. Back into the Dilaurentis house. Only Jason lived there.
Boy this was going to be difficult...

That night Melody, Becky, Ella and Olivia stood round the corner from the Dilaurentis house, going over their plan one last time.
The plan was that Melody and Ella would distract Jason, and give him a welcome basket while talking to him about Ali for as long as possible, while Olivia and Becky snuck into the house from the backyard and stole the key from Ali's room.
The sun was slowly setting and the girls departed. Becky and Olivia waited at the edge of the backyard, hiding. They waited for Melody's text which would signal them that it was okay for them to go in the house.
