If I would have known
what I know today
I would have never
written my number
on that piece of paper
I would have never gotten to know you
I would have never let you in
Because giving you
my number gave you
a pathway to the walls
that I've so carefully built.
Getting to know you
allowed you to tear them down
Letting you in ment
getting broken so beautifully.
You played me so perfectly
As if I were the guitar
and you the musician
Every note and strum done
in such a perfect rhythm
It was undetectable.
So once the song came to an end
and you had to leave
I was left amongst the debris of your storm
Standing in the rain as I looked around
Wondering why this all happened
Only to remember
If
If you didn't get so close
Your storm would have never hit
Your music never strum
Your mess never left
If I would have known what I know today
I would have never let you in
