Strenght of a survivor

What has always inspired me
Is the strength and resiliency of a survivor.
If you look to your left and right
You see strong men and women
Heads held high
Looking their demons in the eye,
Not a single one backing down.
But what truly ignites the fire
Inside my soul
Is the fight and passion of a sexual assault survivor.
We are all angry and broken deep inside,
But I found that even on our toughest days,
When we can barely look at our own skin
Without being reminded of the ones who
Left the scars and bruises
What we choose to do is
Pour out or souls into our words
Let our poems bleed the ugly truths.
In hopes that something like this won't  happen again.
I was only seventeen when someone I trusted forced himself inside of me
A failed plan B and fourteen weeks later
I was at an all time low
And I never felt more alone.
Hearing the heartbeat of a life
I never brought into this world
Broke me in ways that his touch and words never could.
I was only seventeen walking into a planned parenthood
Crying on the shoulder of a woman I did not know.
Yet her words came to show
That every survivor is not alone.
This is me reminding you,
That you are not alone,
They cannot touch you,
We are stronger here
We are stronger together.
So read your poems loud and proud.
Fight to be heard till we can no longer be silenced
It was the strength of a survivor that saved my life. I wish
To be that strength until there
Are no more victims
Only survivors.
