When the Moon Loves the Earth, but the Earth Loves the Sun

He was always the center of your solar system.
He's the sun your earth revolves around.
Your main lover.

So when I finally came into your solar system,
I was merely a comet
that was supposed to be a shooting star
cutting across your atmosphere briefly,
leaving you with a childish wonder,
and a lifetime of fascination.

However,
when I went through your atmosphere;
I got tangled up in your gravity,
as you pulled me near.

I soon became the moon to your earth.
I began to revolve around you.

I was there to light up
your most darkest of nights.

Whenever the high tides of your tears
began to wash upon the shore of your cheeks
I was there to quickly pull those high tides back, and dry those tears.

Just like the phases of my moon:
ever-changing,
our love began to grow
and change with each bright full moon.

I always remained as bright and as full
as I could be whenever it came to you.
Showing my love in each and every way I could.

But your sun always found a way
to eclipse my love for you.
Show that he was still your main focus,
your main love.

I felt I was only able to eclipse his love once, and that was only for a little while.

After all,
the moon cannot warm the earth
Quite like the sun can.
So I was unable to keep you warm
in my embrace for long.

So when it came time
for my moon to lose your earth,
I no longer shined as brightly.
I could no longer feel
your gravity pull me close to you.

Suddenly I was no longer your moon,
Because what's a comet
without her earth anyway?
