Spock p.o.v.
It would seem that the Yautja race was very advanced in their technology. Mercy had shown us her weaponry and fitted giant plasma casters from her damaged vessel to the Enterprise and taught Chekov how to maneuver and fire them. They took electricity to power and were very powerful.
She showed us her various weapons some only meant to maime or injure. She had a trap that if stepped on would make the leg useless but not sever any major arteries.....on any species. It was fascinating.
She had blades in her gauntlets that unsheathed themselves when commanded. She also had a camouflage on her suit but if she moved, it gave her away. She had a smaller plasma caster on her shoulder and a combistick on her back as well as two throwing discs on her hips. It seemed her people preferred blades over guns.
I had started taking lessons on the Yautja language with Mercy, Uhura was there as well learning the language. She taught us the version to where there were less clicks as we didn't have mandibles to accomplish that sound. And after two months I had become almost a master I would mess up a few words here and there but she would calmly correct me and tell me what I did wrong as to not repeat that mistake. Uhura, surprisingly, had a harder time getting the sounds right as a lot if it was deep sounds but within three months she was halfway there and in six she was a master. We gave Watcher a translator so we could understand him speak. Uhura, Mercy and I programmed it with the Yautja language.
Mercy had explained that their masks were what controlled most of their armor functions. Like the camouflage, wristblades, plasma caster, and translated English to Yautja but not the other way around. It also changed vision from their normal infrared to x-ray, or color, or acid (good for hunting Hardmeats), or statistics. They could also record words and change the tone making a word spoken turn into a scream or a whisper. It was a hunting tool as well as a way for them to breathe when not in air breathable to them. They could last at most a week without their normal amount of air. Mercy could live in our atmosphere like this because she was half-human.
Dr.McCoy was now an expert in their anatomy and knew what was normal for them even though he claimed some of it will forever scar him. They had an excellent sense of smell even though fullblooded Yautja don't have noses and apparently they release a musk during their mating time that all species could smell......almost like Orions. They had green blood just like Vulcans, and also like Vulcans they preferred hot climates. And they could have up to four children at a time which McCoy said they called them pups or sucklings. This information was fascinating. McCoy said that if I wanted to learn more then I had to ask Mercy or Watcher.
The siblings did not seem to have any shame and seemed to be comfortable with wearing little clothing or none at all. The way Mercy explained it was that their body's were temples and showing them off was a pride, it was always like that back on their planet of Yautja-Prime.
The ones that worked the most with Mercy was myself, Uhura, Dr.McCoy and sometimes Scotty. Watcher worked mostly with Sulu, Scotty, Chekov, and Dr.McCoy. Everyone considered them apart of the crew even though they weren't formally apart of Starfleet, even I felt a fondness for them.
I was walking through the halls when I came upon Mercy staring out into space. I paused watching her. Fascinating. "If you're going to stare you should stare at the stars like I am." She said sounding like she was smiling.
"I apologize-" She interrupted me.
"Don't." She turned to face me. "On my home world staring is very complementary. It means that the one staring finds the other person aesthetically pleasing to the eye. So I thank you for staring."
