Mercy p.o.v.

Watcher and I were officially  Star Fleet officers and apart of the Enterprise crew. I was a medic, a science officer, a helmsman, a navigator, an mechanic, tactical defense and offense, and a scientist.....as I had many skills being raised a Yaut'ja.....if anyone important was too ill to work or died I'd be the first person to replace them. Right now I was running with Jim away from the local species on this planet, Watcher was back on the ship. He was wearing a grey robe that also covered his face. I was using my cloaking device. Jim had grabbed this scroll they were bowing to. My job was to make sure they didn't catch up to him without being seen myself. This planet hurt my eyes from all the red but if I switched to Infrared it would be worse as this planet was very hot....not too bad for me but horrible for Jim and McCoy.

Jim stunned the beast that McCoy had gotten for our escape, so Jim left the scroll on a tree branch and the three of us jumped into the water and swam back onto the Enterprise.

When we got back to the bridge I heard that Spock was stuck in the volcano. Uhura was very concerned as she was his girlfriend, which made me feel protective of him in a way I did not understand and also made me like Uhura less than I did before......I didn't let it show of course.

Watcher and I could stand temperatures of up to four hundred degrees Fahrenheit and higher and so obviously we were the first to volunteer(sp?) to go get him. But there was still the matter on getting him out of the Volcano before his 'super ice-cube' went off. Spock, ever the logical one, said to leave him because the only way to rescue him requires us to break the prime directive.

Yaut'ja had been on countless planets hunting dangerous creatures and we still followed this unspoken rule amongst our kind to not let the native civil species know of our presence. So I understood where Spock was logically but emotionally I was sad and angry at the same time. I was heartbroken.

Jim and McCoy were yelling at Spock and I took over the comms. "Spock."

"Mercy." He replied.

"I understand what you're saying and I agree with you on a logical standpoint." I said, waving Jim to do whatever it was that he was going to do to save Spock. Emotion and instinct overruled logic, it was the Yaut'ja way. "But you have to understand us on an emotional standpoint. We all care for you Spock in different ways but it is a natural response for us to try all we can to save you regardless of the rules. I can understand your logic but I can also understand their emotion and with Yaut'ja emotion and instinct always overrule logic. Everyone on this ship is my family now, you are my family Spock. Yaut'ja live in groups of fifty or more Yaut'ja per tribe and there are about twelve tribes in every clan. Everyone in the tribe is considered family, everyone on this ship is Watcher and my adopted tribe and Star Fleet is our adopted clan. I don't want to loose another family member Spock. My mei'hswei."

The ship burst out of their ocean and flew over to the volcano and Scotty beamed Spock up. At the same time Uhura and I asked on the comms, "Is Spock onboard?"

"Yes. Spock is safely onboard." Uhura sighed in relief throwing her comms into the screens. I just smiled sadly, glad he was ok but knowing Uhura was with him.

"Good." I said walking to Watcher and my shared room. This was common on Yaut'ja Prime, for siblings to share a room aboard a ship, but still weirded out the humans on board.

I walked into my room and looked at all the items we had brought from Yaut'ja Prime. I felt like I was home. I could fool myself into believing that any minute my mother would walk through the door and ask me if anything new or exciting happened that day and have me explain in extreme detail. And that my father would walk in three hours later to take my mother back to their room, he would knock his head with mine in a gesture of affection, then they'd leave and I'd sleep and wake up in the morning and train.
