The World Ended (The World Is Ending: Book Two)

A New Beginning

....It has been a year since the world had 'ended.' I was still here, and so was my pack. I still remember it like it was yesterday...

I remember every explosion, every death... Every painful moment of suffering...

But again, I smile at the bittersweetness. I had saved them. Both Joey and Daniel.

They were alive.

Because I knew that the world was going to end...

But I also knew that, that was only the start of it...
For this wasn't the last time the world would end...

I knew what had needed to be done, so, I left my pack for a short period of time. I would be gone for yet, another month. This is where my adventure starts again...

I ran among the shadows into the very same streets of L.A...
Yes, it is exactly what you are thinking... I had returned to the same place I bid my farewell to Joey.

...This time, I had grown.
...Well, maybe not in height, but as a person. I am much wiser than before.
I had the information I needed, and I had my mission in my head.

I had figured out why Daniel had hated me.
I had figured out why Catrific was on Danny's side...
I had figured out why so many people seemed... Not right.

It was poison.
They were poisoned.
Not just your typical type of poison, no...

This poison was something that made you mindcontrolled, hypnotized, and brainwashed. It made you go to the evil side... To the greater darkness.
...This was caused by Danny and his group. They always tried to get people on their sides so they could try to kill me...

But, the poison was around before Danny.
Before him or I even knew about it, or how to stop it, it consumed Danny and multiple of others. I didn't know how to save them, and by the time I did, it was too late...
It was my fault that they were like this.

I approached the door of Joey's home... I heard barking coming from the insides, and I also heard Joey's shrieks.

...Exactly as I had thought.
Daniel would try to kill Joey so he could gain access to killing me.

I immediately rushed in, not caring if I broke the door with me. I had to save Daniel! Before it was too late...

...If I didn't, he would be just like them.
And it would be my fault...

Daniel clutched his fist as he saw me enter. He turned around and faced straight toward me...
I could hear whimpering from a new pup?

I could also hear Storm and Wolf barking non-stop at Daniel. They were trying to protect Joey.

Joey turned to me and his eyes widened. I was in my human disguise form...

"Sh-Shadow?!" Joey was suprised, but also scared for his life.

"You mutt! Why did you come back!? Ugh, just die already!" Daniel slowly walked toward me, trying to be intimidating.

...But I was a warrior and I had a pack to fight for.

"Daniel, this is not you!" I growled under my breath. Though I may be small, I put up one heck of a fight.

He chuckled, "This is me. Get used to it. I hate you, and you hate me. There, we're enemies." He stared me down.

"I don't hate you. I hate the poison that was put in you!" In a specific motion, both of us leaped and traded sides. We both had the idea of tackling each other, but instead, we dodged each other.

"Smart wolf. But are you smart enough? Let's see!" He leaped at me, but once again, I dodged it. My feet slid in sync with the ground below me...

I breathing became heavier and my vision became quicker. My eyes darted from Daniel to the dogs to Joey.

"Joey, I need you to take the dogs and back away." I quietly spoke. I kept my eyes plastered on Daniel. If my eyes lost gaze of him, I would be in danger. I couldn't face my back towards him.
Never face your back to anyone.

"W-Why-?" He asked nervously. I could tell that he was scared for his life.
Anyone would be.

"Go!" My voice lowered, and from there Daniel leaped at each other as Joey took the dogs, and went into another room.

Daniel and I were still standing, but now both of our hands were touching as we were trying to push the other down. We had the same amount of power, so it had no use. We were just standing there, groaning from the power being used.

I knew what I had to do now...

Just as Daniel was about to push me, I released my hands from his and I dodged his hands as I raced around him... Daniel lost balance, but caught himself.

I ran out the door and out to the outdoors.

"Come back here, you MUTT!" Daniel chased me, just like I had planned.

My eyes darted around, observing every single detail that was the nature of outside. I then saw a very angry Daniel, racing toward me.

He had his arms straight out, as he was trying to chase me...
I was skittish. Just as he reached me, I ran in the other direction.

"Come here, MUTT!" He said as he faced me. He then pulled out a black pistol and my eyes widened.

His smile looked like it could have black acid dropping from it... It was almost sadistic.. But this wasn't him...
This was the poisoned him.

"This is not you..." I calmly spoke to Daniel, holding out my hands as if to reach him.

He still pointed the gun to me, as I wondered why he didn't shoot yet. I would still stand, even if he did shoot.

I then reached him.
He pulled the trigger.
But I forgave him instantly.

The bullet was implanted right into my heart, and even though I should be falling onto the ground in agony I still stood.

I then hugged Daniel, which healed him... And he hugged back, all the while dropping the gun.

"No! Oh, no, no! Shadow!?" He looked down at the blood seeping from my chest. I looked at him and smiled hopefully.

I had saved him.
Mission one was now completed.
