The loud, obnoxious sound of a cell phone woke Becca up. She groaned, stretched out her tired muscles and grabbed her phone. Much to her dismay, it wasn't her phone causing the interruption of sleep. She turned to the man next to her and touched his shoulder. "Hey" she spoke groggily, rubbing his arm. "That's your phone"

"Hmmm." Was his only reply.

She smiled a little and shook her head. "Im not reaching over you to get it." She turned away, trying to get comfortable enough to return to her dreams.

A few minutes later, the phone continued to ring. "Ugh" she grimaced. "Kevin! Pick up your phone!" She took one of her pillows and hit him on the head with it.

He jumped, and rubbed his face with his hand. "Huh? What? Phone." he mumbled, finally taking the phone off his side of the night stand.

"Hello?" He yawned, propping himself up with his free hand. "David? Hey man what's up? You need a ride?"

Becca scooted closer to him and rolled her eyes. Of course. David was drunk again.

Kevin smiled down at her and kissed her forehead. "I'll leave in a few minutes, text me the address." He hung up the phone and tossed it back on the nightstand before turning his attention back to her.

"Dont tell me I already know." She groaned, wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his neck, "Cant we just let him sleep it off? Its 2am"

He laughed and returned her embrace, his hand stroking her hair on the side of her face. "He's family, you know I cant do that."

"I know" she sighed, pulling away so she could prop herself up to face him "This is just becoming way too much of a habit"

He brought her face to his and kissed her sweetly, "I know, he's just going through a hard time right now. With Diana leaving him a few months ago, he will need some time to heal and work through it." He smiled at her lovingly with those intense brown eyes that always made her melt, "Want to come with me and keep me company?" He asked

She smiled back "Of course."

They both got up, got dressed, and headed towards the car. "He just sent me the address." Kevin said, "Its about 15 min away from here- near downtown"

She nodded, "Let's just go get him so we can head back to bed."

The car was quiet the first few minutes, as both were trying to wake up a little more. The streets were even more silent, not a car in sight as most everyone had gone in for the evening.

Becca knew and understood David was having a hard time with the divorce. She just wished he would turn to a counselor as opposed to a bottle.

"What are you thinking about so intently over there?" Kevin teased.

She turned away from the window and smiled. "I'm thinking about the wedding. It's a month away you know" she grabbed his hand and squeezed it "Still sure you wanna be stuck with me forever?"

He slowed down to a stop at a red light, chuckled, and kissed her hand, 'I'll always be right beside you babe." She leaned in for a quick kiss, which he happily granted.

The light turned green, and Kevin started moving forward. Halfway through the intersection, they heard a loud honk coming from the left side. They turned towards the sound, only to see the briefest glimpse of a blue Dodge Ram before it slammed into them.

There was a loud crunch sound upon impact, the truck pushing their Toyota Corolla clear across the others side of the street until it finally smashed into a light pole. Becca's head hit the window and she let out only half a scream before the world went black
