It took a minute for Becca to get her breath back. Although she had been quite serious in her statement to Jenn, she had never meant for him to actually HEAR her.

At the very least, with his grey blue eyes boring into hers, challenging her with a rebuttal, she got a better look at him. Even sitting down she could tell he was much taller and lankier than what she initially thought. In a dark blue pair of skinny jeans and a black jacket over a white t-shirt, even Becca had to admit the blue streaks in his hair did seem to fit him and the pop-punk style he appeared to aim for.

His eyes never left hers, but she could almost see the smirk reach across his face, "So first you criticize my sense of style, and now you are you going to stand here and gawk at me like a hormonal teenager? Careful, you're making me dizzy here with your personality shifts."

The sarcasm that oozed out of his voice pushed something inside her and she smiled at him ruefully. "Not at all, just noting that there is, in fact, no eyeliner on today. Girlfriend not backstage?"

Undeterred, he wiggled his eyebrow and leaned in closer to her, "Was that a not-so-sly way of figuring out whether or not I'm single?"

She raised an eyebrow. "I could care less either way."

His eyes widened and he leaned back, but he quickly recovered and gave a small chuckle. "Well I-"

"Hey horseface, we agreed to share the fans, remember?" Matt walked up to Josh, ending their discussion. He held out his hand to Jenn. "Matt Webb, and you are...?"

It was only then that Becca remembered Jenn had, in fact, been sitting there the entire time. She unwillingly blushed, suddenly embarrassed at how intense a stupid conversation became with a complete stranger. His sarcasm and wit had not surprised her nearly as much as her baiting and fiery responses .

Clearly still in shock, Jenn managed to tear her eyes away from her friend and frontman and turned to face Matt. "I'm Jenn. Jenn Whitaker"

Understanding donned on Matt's face "Oh! The backstage contest winner. Welcome!" He turned to look at Becca. "And you must be the lucky friend that got to come with her."

Once, again, she blushed. Ugh, could you please be a grown up? She chastised herself silently and stood up, turning her back on Josh. "B-Becca... Becca Stevens" She took his hand and shook it.

He smiled brightly at her. "Was that a stutter I heard? We aren't nervous are we?"

The mischievous and playful look in his eye caused her to laugh. "Hardly."

Suddenly, they all heard a shriek come from across the stage. "Oh my God!" The girl, wearing blue jeans and a Marianas Trench t-shirt, ran over to them. Becca and Jenn had stepped out of the way, assuming she was aiming for the members of the band. Instead, the girl ran over to Becca and jumped up and down excitedly "You're Rebecca Stevens! You're the writer of the 'Love Me Always' series!" Becca smiled, albeit cautiously. Although she was noticed occasionally in New York, most of her readers that approached her were much less calm than the girl jumping in front of her. "That I am."

"Oh my god, I LOVED 'Forever After". I bawled like a baby when Logan died! I felt so bad for Elena! When is your next story coming out? Are you going to be doing any sequels? Is Elena going to fall in love again? Can I get a picture with you? I can't believe you're at a Marianas Trench concert!" the girl spoke rapidly, and squealed at the end of each of her questions.

Becca felt flustered, and tried to answer the girls questions as best, and as vaguely as she could. "I'm glad you like the series, and 'Forever After' was one of my favorites to write, so I'm glad you liked that too. Jenn," She looked at Jenn, who was starting to come back to life. "Will you take a picture please?" She caught a sideways glance of Josh, and was relieved to see he had taken a backseat and not commented on the scenario unfolding in front of him.
