Pretty scars mark her skin
Making her perfectly imperfect
Battle scars and broken butterflies
Crimson blood stained flowers all around
Faked smiles and hidden pain
Wishing on the stars to make it all stop
She lies to make them all feel better
Pretends she's okay for them
Yet they don't know
While they sleep soundly, she's still wide awake
Leaving reminders of her own self hatred
"I'm fine." She insists, her fingers crossed behind her back and a fake smile on her lips
She paints a pretty picture,
but this story has a special twist
for her paintbrush was an imagination
and the canvas the stars
She's wishing to drown her demons
but they know how to swim

"What happened to forever?" I ask her grave
"What happened to the stars never lying?"
