High School Clichés in reality...

What did you expect when you came to high/secondary school? Were you opinions shaped from society, movies, books or TV shows? Did you think you could burst out in song in the middle of the halls or 'cafeteria' and get away with it? Did you think you would have groups that you sat with in the 'cafeteria' and people marked their table and if you dared sat at them you were a goner? What about 'groups' in general? Mean girls, jocks, nerds, weirdos....?

Let me tell you one thing, my school doesn't even HAVE a cafeteria. We have a canteen. You have to PAY for food and can actually CHOOSE what you want. Shocking, right?

But over the last couple weeks, I've started to realise, that clichés originate from somewhere, so maybe some of them are true. I've seen them PERSONIFIED. MAYBE CLICHES ARE REAL (I'm not bothered to do the little accents anymore).

GROUPS (or types of people)

I've narrowed down the groups that I think belong in most schools. They may vary, obviously. But here they are.

- The people who care about their futures, so they work hard to get good grades and scores

- The people who don't really like school but care about their future

- People who are naturally noticed but don't want to be (rare)

- People who aren't naturally noticed but go out of their way to be (common)

- People who are noticed and know it (very common, generally are mean too but pretend they are angels...)

- People who are noticed and know it but they are the nicest about it (I come across these people, and when I do, I want to be friends with them)

- The people who The Noticed target because they are jealous

- The Weirdos that have their own friends of weirdos and don't care about anyone else

-  A group of beautifully close friends who seem like the perfect group of people, and role models (people to look up to and strive to be like them)

- The Jocks, but different people are obssessed with different sports (and spend all breaks playing them... e.g. tennis and basketball)

-  The Musos (music people) who hand in the music rooms and breaks

- The people who don't really care what others think and form thwir own group of close friends

- The dodgy people who make you wonder what goes through their minds

- The lgbt+ (they have come out and are perfectly chill with and so they should be, they have the confidence to tell the world, good for them!)

- The gamers (generally not as obvious but are in two groups)

- The outcasts (nobody wants to be friends with them or don't 'notice' them so they form their own group, and fair enough) I don't know what to do about these people...

- The people who fit into none of these categories and wouldn't give an eff about it

- The people who fit into none of these categories and do give an eff about it

- The hilarious people who make absolutely everyone laugh

ARE THESE PEOPLE AT YOUR SCHOOL? Which one are you, or are you in a 'group' completely different.

What am I?

I'm Free Bird and I'm a nerd, a muso, a target.

I know I am a nerd because I work extremely hard to get good grades and when I'm awake at night I'm not thinking about how I caught my crush's eye but rather worrying about an assessment I've completed and a question I may or may not have messed up. But I am proud to be a nerd because eventually it will pay off.

I know I am a muso because:

a) I'm in the music program

b) you'll find my friends and I in the music rooms at breaks the majority of the time

c) when there is a key change in a song, I will call out 'KEY CHANGE!' or 'MODULATION!'

I know I am targeted becuase I've recently been harrassed and bullied by 'Lila' part of 'The Noticed'. They roll my eyes at me so often I think they might roll straight out of their ears. Anf they make nasty little comments. A way to be subtle about your dislike of their actions if to sneeze whenever the walk past. 'Oh oops sorry, I'm allergic to your RBF'.

Groups can be annoying.

They are exclusive, stereotypical and confining. People merge and combine and thumbs up to those who do that!

I find people will generally stay with who they are friends with.

When you think about it...

Chliches originate from things that a common and are thought of unoriginal because they are everywhere.

But really there is a girl that alot of the guys like.

The nerd who is actually really pretty when she takes of her glasses (unfortunately not me) and attracts the best kind of guys.

The jocks who you never see because they are off playing sport somewhere.

You didn't even know those guys were in your grade because they wag all the time.

She's talking to all the guys so much you wonder what she even talks about.

He is talking with his friends all the time and nothing else.

They aren't in their Quadrangle because they are in the music rooms.

This has been really random, but comment which 'group' you and your friends might fit in or if it's entirely something else.

I AM ON HOLIDAYS NOW YAY! TWO WEEKS BEFORE WE GO BACK TO NEXT TERM, NOT SUMMER BREAK LIKE IN AMERICA OR ELSEWHERE BUT YAY ANYWAY.

Until next time, Gabs xx
