After word got around that Iris had officially entered the rankings in Visco's world, things had calmed down quite a bit. The students finally saw that she wasn't just some stupid, attention-seeking girl joining the ranks but someone who's capable with her fists. It was still a shock to others, specifically the ones who hadn't seen the fight. They simply couldn't wrap their mind on the idea that someone such as her would be able to defeat Rolan, the Hippo.
There's still fourteen more fights to happen. That's plenty of time for everyone to see her capabilities.
So with that first duel over with, Iris was back on her morning and after-school team practices. The team was once again in sync, and the coach couldn't be happier that she was back to deal those powerful spikes. Her scholarship was safe.
Back to her goal, Pierre had told her of the codename of her next target. Giraffe, he had told her. Only a single word. He's leaving it to her to try and find him on her own again. Now, Iris knew what a disaster it had been when she was left to her own devices. She knew she'll need some form of help to find this Giraffe.
That's where Ellie was more than happy to help.
"Giraffe, I-I know him," She said at one of their lunch time at the roof. "He's a junior. He's really tall, too. His name is Mark. Um, he has shaggy, brown hair and brown eyes."
With lunch being the only free time she had, she had to postpone being with Ellie for the meantime to go look for the junior. It had been two days since she got the information and she's still running around the whole school to look for him! She thought that someone so tall would be easy to spot. She thought wrong.
She sat on one of the benches on the school courtyard to take a short breather. That's when a shadow fell on top of her and she looked up to see mischievous blue eyes. "Let me guess, you're looking for 19th, aren't you?"
She didn't know who he was. He had red hair that stood out against his pale skin, long enough to brush over one of his eyes. She caught something flash and saw that his ears had a couple silver piercings.
She nodded at him and went back to searching the courtyard with her eyes.
"Need some help?"
She looked back at him to see that he had sat beside her, "Why would you help me?"
He shrugged, "I'm bored, I guess."
"Searching for Mark is boring as well," She said.
"Because you're doing it alone. It's more fun when two people do it," He said.
"But I'm not seeking for fun."
"But it's still boring, you said so earlier. Having me around would ease that. Just try me, cupcake." At the last bit, he winked at her.
"I have a name. It's Iris," she said.
"And I'm Locke. See, we're friends already! Still don't want me around?"
She looked down at her hands for a moment. What did he say? Did he just call her a...friend?
"Aw, please say you want me around," Locke cooed, taking the girl's sudden silence the wrong way.
She lifted her head and stared at him, surprising him with the intensity of her stare. "What did you call me?"
"Eh? Uh, friend!"
