Every weekends, the students had a chance to go into the nearest town from the school. It was a thirty-minute bus ride, and students were usually free to do whatever they want as long as they were all back by the academy at 7pm.

Iris normal routine consisted of a morning run around the school grounds. After that, depending on what she needed, she'd either go to town or do homework. For she had no friends before, that was what her weekends usually consisted of in the past three years. It was consistent and boring, but she had gotten so used to it already.

After having a light snack in her room, Iris went out and locked the door. Heading for the elevator, she waited for a few seconds before it opened and her eyes instantly met someone inside it.

"Caleb," She greeted and stepped inside.

"Hey," He greeted back.

Silence.

It was kind of weird to be alone with him. Normally, there were always others with them whenever they exchange words. Plus, his only reason for staying near her was because of Locke. Now that he's nowhere to be seen, Caleb was quiet and had no one to reprimand.

Iris stepped out when they reached ground floor and headed straight outside. She noted that Dom wasn't anywhere in sight to greet them the usual farewell and figured that it must be the man's day-off.

The sun was just beginning to rise, giving the sky the lightest touch of color yet. Iris took a deep breath and savored the cool air in her lungs. This was what she loved about her school--the fresh air and the life away from the bustle of cities. They were miles away from any big cities and the school was built on high ground, surrounded by vast expanse of trees and nothing else. However, that meant it was colder than normal during the cold season but Iris didn't really mind that for she loved the cold. She loved winter. It would be a few weeks before fall ended and she was looking forward to it.

After warming up with a short walk, Iris began her run. This time she decided to go out of the main gates and to run around the perimeter. There was no danger to it at all because it was also a common path for students and staff to run in.

As she reached the gates, Iris met eyes with the same person just minutes ago. So Caleb was also doing a run. She thought he was having a practice in his sport when she'd seen him. Though they'd taken different ways to get there, it was clear that he was also planning to run around the perimeter.

He took an earphone out of one of his ears, "I thought you'll run around the field."

"I didn't feel like it," She said as they ran. "And how did you know?"

She saw one corner of his mouth go up, "I always run during Saturdays."

"So do I."

"I know," He grunted. "You run so fuckin' fast that I'm always looking at your back."

Did that mean that he's familiar with her for a long time? Iris had no time to dwell on it because she needed to focus on keeping her breathing even and nice.

After a few minutes of being surrounded by the sound of their shoes hitting the ground and their breathing, Iris said, "You're not looking at my back now."

"Believe me," He huffed, "Hardest fuckin' thing I've got to do."

She glanced at him to see that he was straining himself just so he could keep up. Iris frowned, "You don't have to."
