Sophie's POV

"Huff, huff..." Where did that guy go?! I saw my classmate crying and I figured it had something to do with him, so I went to the back of the school where they came from, but did he seriously disappear so quickly? Just when I even specially went to the convenience store to get these... I looked down at the bag I was holding. "Ah, geez! I hate this!!" I started running towards the admin block.

I ran past the staircase, and came to a halt. Something told me that this was the right way, and the staircase itself seemed to beckon me up. So I went. I climbed up to the top floor, and saw the 'restricted-access' sign to the rooftop. "...." I climbed over the sign, and turned the knob.

There he was, his solitary figure looking up at the sky.

I had this sudden urge. I felt that he was drifting somewhere else. And I wanted him to break free from it.

"So this is where you were!" I said as loudly as I could. Maybe I shouldn't have. The silence on the rooftop amplified my voice several times.

When he turned around, I unconsciously held my breath.

The sunset seemed to enhance his features. His blond hair was a little unkempt, but that was what made him look well, better than the other guys. However, that wasn't what had caught me off guard. When he turned around... His eyes were empty. Those eyes of his had reflected everything, hiding the pit of emotions he really feels. As if... there was nothing he saw and nothing that mattered.

The truth is, I was scared.

I ran towards him at full speed, and thrust the bag into his chest.

"Take it!" The bag dropped nicely into his hands. "It's as thanks for saving me earlier yesterday." I looked down, feeling my face burn up. "This convenience store has the best croquettes around this town." I wonder what his reaction is...

"Don't get the wrong idea! I just dislike the idea of owing somebody something! You understand?!" I took the chance to look up at him.

Ah, I'm glad. His eyes were back to normal. For the first time I noticed he had emerald green eyes which had a mysterious depth to them, as if he had a painful past that removed him capable of expressing his feelings, and a level of maturity that none could reach. But suddenly I realized I was looking at him in the eye up close, and I turned away immediately due to embarrassment.

He sat down, leaning on the railings. He patted the empty space next to him, and waved me over. "Wha-" Incredulous! He actually wants me to sit ther-

He handed me the other croquette. "There's 2 of them, and croquettes are better eaten together," He smiled mischievously. "Also, I don't think the favor's quite returned with just the croquettes."

I don't believe him! You should be glad I even tried to pay back the favor!!

"Here," He said, not backing down, the croquette in his outstretched arm.

Ah, geez! If this would pay back the favor I owe him... After this I will have nothing to do with Luke Hunter, playboy! Reluctantly, I sat down next to him.

But somewhere deep down, I might have been just a little happy. I had found a boy who wasn't scared of me, willing to be my rival(as his actions clearly states).

But something tells me he isn't just another ordinary high schooler.

- A few days later -

I came to school as always, arguing with Luke Hunter. Apparently his house is in the same direction as mine, so from today onwards.... Gah. I don't even want to think about it. More like, it's too coincidental! I see him every morning! And he keeps giving that smug face of his. I want to punch him so bad!!
