-Sophie's POV-
I've checked every possible place that Amber could have been held at in this city. Old and abandoned warehouses, dark and unfamiliar alleys... but there wasn't at all a sign of life. I hadn't stopped running since Luke and I had separated. Strangely, the only fuel I am running on now is seeing Amber again... and Luke's words.
"You'll find her. Definitely."
That gave me reassurance. And I was thankful for that. Just as I was about to round the corner-
"Oof!"
A couple of boys had knocked me over. They continued running and laughing, as if I was invisible. I landed on the cold, hard ground butt-first. Ouch... I got off the ground and patted myself down. Then a white sheet of paper on the ground caught my eye. I bent down and picked it up...
The unexpected arrival of the note left my heart pounding in my chest.
You know I'm watching you, right? You even went to tell her father... A pity he doesn't care. Now that you've separated with that handsome boy of yours, it makes it all easier, doesn't it? Follow my instructions carefully. You are going to come alone, following the map I drew below. Simple, right? You see the lamp post in front of you right now? Put your cell phone directly under it. Remember, darling. I'm watching your every move.
I gritted my teeth and cursed under my breath.
"That creepy bastard... I'll make him pay...!"
Following the horrendously drawn map on the map, I found myself standing in front of large metal door. I placed both my hands on it and pushed. The metal was cold. However no matter how hard I pushed, it wouldn't budge.
"Hey, this is a joke, right...! I need to find Amber!"
That was the last sentence I had said before a blow landed on my head and the world became pitch-black.
When I woke up, I was lying down on the floor, hands and feet bounded together. It didn't take me long to realize the situation I was in. Not only had I failed to save Amber, I even got myself kidnapped...! I tried taking control of the situation. I made a fist with my hands and wriggled around a little.
All right, I thought. I could make do with this.
Then a gruff voice had greeted me.
"You're really something, you know?"
...?
"That was a first time I had seen a girl take care of two, no three of my personal guards. I mean, seriously, what's with the pole."
He started to chortle.
"... Where's Amber." I made my voice lower so I seemed more intimidating.
"I want to see her."
"Alright, since you've come so far and all."
He snapped his fingers, and a large screen came down from the ceiling. It was showing a footage of another room, where Amber was currently held. She was unconscious and in a chair, sitting upright.
I struggled against the rope bounding my hands and legs. It was Amber! She's just right there!
"You haven't done anything to her, right?!"
"Of course not. She's just unconscious due to the shock and some chloroform. It's fine. I have no interest in her anyway. The one I have interest in..."
He bent down lifted my chin in his hand and pulled my face closer to his.
"Is you."
I finally saw the face of the man that had kidnapped me. Despite his gruff voice, he had a more sophisticated face, and a very smiley expression. His build was average, but through his grasp and rough texture of his fingers I could tell he had been up to some training with some dangerous weapons.
