Sophie's POV
Why do I have to do this... with him?! Sophie thought to herself. Just ten minutes ago her teacher had told her to get some raw materials for her that was only sold in a shop in the city. Sophie was fine with the idea, until her teacher had dragged Luke into the job with her. Just his luck to be passing by in the doorway at the time. Just then, Sophie noticed something at the corner of her eye. Without hesitation, she dashed to it.
"Huh...?" Luke seemed bewildered. He calmly followed Sophie into an alley to see---
---Sophie laughing on the floor, holding a puppy.
Luke just stared at her. "What are you... doing?"
"Ahaha..." The puppy started licking Sophie. "I found this little guy--- ahaha --- in the alley, so when I picked it up --stop it, haha-- it seemed to take a liking to me." She held it up in the air. "Up you go, buddy!" She said, a blushing smile forming on her face.
Luke was taken aback by her sudden smile, causing him to look away, cheeks reddening.
"Look at him, Luke!" Sophie handed the puppy to Luke. Luke stared at the puppy, eye to eye. Then he sighed and took him from Sophie's hands. The puppy immediately tried to scratch Luke's face, causing Luke to put him as far away from his face as he could.
"Since young, I've never been very good with 'em. They say, puppies and kittens can tell if you're a bad person or not." He handed the puppy back to Sophie.
"What are you saying?" She took the puppy back and smiled gently at Luke.
"You're a good person."
Luke widened his eyes, then his features softened.
"Can I... kidnap you?"
"Are you a retard?!" retorted Sophie with a kick to his head.

Sophie pushed opened the doors to the hardware shop. As soon as she went in, she rushed out immediately, bumping into Luke, who had just begun to make his way in.
"Watch it!" She hissed.
"Look here, you were the one who bumped into me-"
"Nevermind that, go in and get the materials!"
Just then, Luke noticed Sophie was sweating considerably.
"Hmm. If you won't tell me the reason, then I guess we won't be getting the materials anytime soon..." Luke sat down on the steps.
"No-- wait, I'll say it!" Sophie took a deep breath, then calmed herself down. "That old man is hung up about a misunderstanding. I'm so dead if he sees me!" she shivered.
Looking at her exaggerated actions Luke snickered.
"Then wait here. I'll get the materials."
"Really?"
"Of course it isn't free." And he went in with a smile.
Sophie grumbled, and started pacing restlessly. It was lunch time, and it was really crowded in the city. The sea of unknown faces had made Sophie somewhat anxious. She took a deep breath, and exhaled.
At this rate, I'm never going to be good with crowds... thought Sophie to herself.
Then a voice came up to her ear and sent a chill down her spine.
"We have your dear friend.... if you want to see her alive... go down the alley on your left."
The person had breathed on her neck. Sophie turned around defensively, only to see... the usual lunch crowd in the city. The guy who had told her those chilling words were nowhere to be found.
