"Hey, Cameron," I said all too nice to the boy who called me a bitch in front of the whole classroom yesterday. I sat in the desk the was in front of him but sat in it backward so I could face him. It was the beginning of English and we were supposed to work on our projects together. We have three months to complete the project. Although we get some time in class to work on it, it is recommended to see each other outside of class. At least that's what Mr. Weaver said.
Ha. Yeah right.
"What do you want?" Cameron said emotionlessly while staring down at his phone. He had his earbuds in which seem to only aggravate me. I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I told myself I wouldn't get angry and I would be the better person.
Obviously, Cameron likes to act like a child.
"We need to work on our project," I said calmly. "We're partners remember?"
"Oh yeah, I'll take an F," He said without looking at me still. I rolled my eyes and sigh in annoyance.
"If you don't do your half, I automatically get a fifty," I said trying to make him understand. I don't know why he has to be so difficult.
"Oh, I forgot," Cameron said finally looking at me. "You wouldn't want to mess up your perfect grades." He said it in such an arrogant tone; I could not help but glare at him.
"We can start out with basic questions like," I said trying to think of a simple random question. "What's your favorite food?"
"Puppies." He said. I gave him an 'are you serious look.' I couldn't help but laugh a little at how ridiculous and complicate he was being. Just in that moment, I saw the corner of Cameron's lip twitch upward in a slight smile. I had to do a double-take to see if I was seeing things. It wasn't a big smile that showed teeth but it was considered a smile. The smile didn't last long. It was as if as soon he notice he was smiling, he wipes it away.
"What's your favorite color?" I know if I would have said something about the smile, you would have come up with something snarky.
"Blue." He said simply. I had taken out my notebook and open the next blank page. I titled it: Cameron and wrote that his favorite color is blue.
"Mine too," I said.
I began asking him simple questions and surprisedly he answer back without a ridiculous answer. Turns out we had some things in common our favorite color is blue, over favorite food a cheeseburger, we both love the band, Lincoln Park. Yes, it was just little things, but we were getting along for the first time.
I never thought I would have a pleasant conversation with Cameron Hasting.
"What do you like to do for fun?" I asked waiting for his answer. Cameron's lips went up into a smirk as you were thinking about what he likes to do for fun. I was so confused at to what he was smirking at.
