"I'm pretty sure you slept through the turbulence."

Airports are trouble. You want to simply get from point A to point B but it seems something always happens unfortunately. This time your flight from Orlando to LA got delayed repeatedly. You should've been in your destination by now, if anything halfway there. But the day was just not in your favor. So here you sat among many other angry passengers wanting to get to LA. Delays for maybe thirty minutes are fine but it was getting near two am.

Getting sick of the constant complaints around you, you get up and make your way over to a twenty-four hour shop near your gate. Trying to stay awake you got yourself a cup of coffee and and some candy that at the moment you didn't care if they were good or not. Straining your eyes open you paid the cashier and attempted to find a less crowded seat near your gate. After a while of searching you found two empty seats, placing your bag in the seat next to you. Putting your ear buds in and messing around on your phone you wait to see if things will change for the better today.

After a while of sitting you see someone loom over you and you take out an ear bud. You look up at a man with dark hair and dark eyes with confusion on your face. "Hi, are you going on the flight to LA?" You gave a nod in response and he had a sigh of relief. "So I'm at the right gate. Good. Can I sit there?" Pointing to seat occupied by your bag. "Uhh, sure." You replied hesitantly and moved your bag to the floor. "Thanks." He flashed you a dimpled smile which you acknowledged with a nod. Moments after the man sat, a message went through the speakers of the airport.
"All passengers attending the flight to Los Angeles, California: your flight has been delayed by one hour. Repeat. All passengers attending the flight to Los Angeles, California : your flight has been delayed by an hour. Sorry for the inconvenience and have a great night!"

Groans slipped out of every mouth around you including your own. "How many times have we heard that today?" The man beside you questioned. "I'd say about four." You let out a laugh. You placed in you ear buds again and went back to being on your phone.

*time skip*

The hour had passed and you finally boarded the flight taking your seat near the window. You had killed so much of your phone battery during the wait you decided to just let it charge for the flight. Letting out 's huff of air as almost all of the passengers had boarded you silently celebrated that it seemed you didn't have anyone seated near you. The same black hair and brown eyes came into your vision as he mumbled to himself. He glanced up at the seat numbers and his eyes lit up once he looked at your row.

You saw him put up his carry-on and sit in the seat closest to yours. "Hey its you again!" The man said quietly knowing that just about everyone on this plane was beyond exhausted. Who wouldn't? "Yeah..." not knowing exactly what to say. "We end up next to each other again." "Mhm." Still looking for words.

"I don't bite ya know." He leaned a bit closer probably not meaning any harm but it still made you stiffen. "Sorry." Guilt laced my voice. "No, nothing's wrong but..." he fixed his posture and then leaned forward, hands on his knees. "You seem pretty cool and-" a huff of air left his mouth. "I don't know." He finished.

You bit your bottom lip. "Sorry if I come off abrasive or anything. I'm Y/N by the way." You tried to be nicer to this stranger, he seemed genuinely interested in you. His lips curved upward as he turned to faced you. "Nate." He gave a small wave and then stuck his hand out causing you to stifle a laugh. "You're laughing and I'm not even trying so that's a good sign." You composed yourself and continued to question Nate. "Why are you acting more awkward than me?"
This caused the man seated beside you to lightly laugh as well. "Cut it with the handshakes and shit and talk to me like a normal person." Nate went wide eyed. "Well fuck, and I thought I was the bold one." His statement left the two of you laughing.

*time skip cuz I'm pretty sure this would be an actual like 5 hour flight.*

Faint light barely peered through the window next to you as you felt warmth and weight upon your head. You glance up and see a barely awake Nate. "Oh hey-" he let out a yawn. "You slept like a baby, I'm pretty sure you slept through the turbulence." You chuckled, followed by quickly moving to an upright position in your own seat and off of Nate's chest leaving him with a look of confusion across his face and you with a bright rose touching your cheeks. The man seated next to you quickly tried to muster a question on how things became so awkward and was cut off before he let out a single word.

"Passengers we will be landing in twenty minutes. That will be six thirty in Los Angeles time. Thank you for flying with us and we hope you enjoyed your flight."

"Welp." You slowly go to grab your phone and plan to just listen to music considering the situation you just went through. You saw Nate trying to tell you something but you decided to block him out. Just twenty minutes and you get to finally visit sunny Los Angeles. Beginning to close your eyes once more you felt a quick force rip out your earbuds. "Hey!" You spat at Nate, venom laced in your voice.

"What did I do?" The ebony asked clearly dumbfounded. You rubbed your arm up and down. "You did nothing, I just feel weird that I literally just met you I think five, maybe six hours ago, and I woke up sleeping on you. I'm trying to avoid the elephant in the room." You let out an annoyed huff of air. "And I'll just take that back." You reached over to take back your ear buds which he pulled just out of your reach. "I don't get how you're just gonna ignore now because you accidentally fell asleep on me, it's not a big deal." Still trying to get back what is rightfully yours it seems Nate began to give up on getting through to you.

"You're just visiting LA, right?" You sat down in your chair arms crossed on your chest. "Yeah, I've wanted to go for a while." Nate gave you back your earbuds and scooted closer to your seat. "Well-" he leaned on his hand seeming in an attempt to be suave, possibly. "You found yourself a tour guide. I live here and when you're not ignoring me you still seem cool." A smirk made its way to your face and you soon felt the plane begin to decend. "I might just take you up on that offer Smith." His dimples showed as a large grin graced his features. You leaned back in your chair and looked over at the smiling man. "This trip should be quite interesting." You said with a smile soon finding it's way on your face as well.
