One Of The Shots

Spring Air

Prompt: It's spring and everything is blooming.

My gaze followed the green and colors that seemed to brighten up the world for the first time in months my face lit up with joy and I was truly happy. Birds flew overhead, trees bloomed and blossomed. Scattered petals of all different types, my whole world seemed to breath after a long hibernation.

"Tom come back inside please," those words seemed to suck the happiness out if me at the last second.

"Yes mom," and my world went back to the horrible mess it was.

I wanted to garden and play, but my wants are nothing to anybody. I am slave to the society, gender roles hit me like a truck that won't leave.

"Tom there is a new sports camp opening up I'm going to sign you up," my mother explained.

Of course no choice like everything in my life,when I don't want to do something they always turn it on me saying things like we give your a great life on a silver platter why can't you just accept that.

"But mom I Don-"

"No buts you are going to be signed up for sports whether you like it or not."

"-t want to play sports I want to garden" I forced it out before I braced myself for the worse.

"Can't you understand what we've done for you"

"Yes but-"

"You lazy idiot, go to your room now"

I turned and I ran up the stairs into the tiny bedroom locking the door. Slowly I crawled into bed and closed my eyes, surely what ever sleep has prepared for me is better then this.

Welp that happened, in all honesty I tried to make this happier... but I don't think that happy is on my vocabulary, also don't think you have to follow gender roles and don't let them hold you down after all you're a individual, never let someone else hold you down.
