The school bell pierces my ears as I walk into the classroom.
Great. The first second of the first minute of the first hour of the first day in this hell hole.
Now, I'm not one for strong language, but school just needs some colorful words to describe it.
I walk in and am greeted by my very jumpy, eccentric friend, Stephanie. I don't know how she does it. I've had two cups of coffee, and this girl has more energy than the entire school. She doesn't even drink coffee!!
"Hey, Lain!!" she shouts,"Can you believe we're back here? I'm so excited; I hope I get honor roll again..." I just let her babble on while I tune her out. I mean, I love her and all that, but there's only so much talking a person can take in the morning.
As you can see, Steph is my slightly sane, incredibly insane, and sort of nerdy friend. She is 5'8''.She has lightly tanned skin, wavy chocolate hair, chocolate eyes, and freckles dotting her face. She basically all-out beautiful. Head cheerleader, as well.
"...and then she said that I couldn't have the dress because she was there fir-" Steph was cut off by my other friend, Seth.
"Hey, Steph. Lain," he says, side hugging us both.
"Hey, Seth," Steph and I said in unison.
Seth was towering over me at 6'2'' and had dark brown hair and eyes, and light skin. He was quite an eye-catcher for many girls. He had that bad-boy vibe, which was great for him because he WAS the bad boy.
"Where's Grant?" Steph asked.
"He was going to go find his girlfriend," Seth replied, looking directly at me.
Seth was the only one who knew I had a crush on Grant. He's known since day one of the crush which was in fifth grade. We are juniors in high school now. Yes, I know it's pathetic to have a crush this long.
"Hey guys," Grant sighed. He was obviously thinking about something.
"What's wrong?" I immediately asked.
"Well, Carly has been really distant lately and I don't know why," Grant said, annoyed.
"Maybe she's going through something at home. You never know what's going on in someone else's life," I responded.
Carly is Grant's girlfriend. She's a really nice girl which makes it hard to hate her. I still don't like her though. She's with Grant and I hate that I'm not her.
I'm short for my age, 5'6'' to be exact. I have pin-straight, dark brown (almost black) hair with tints of red of the sun catches it just right. I have the same color eyes only without the red and tan skin. I'm the nerd.
Grant had bright blue eyes and light brown hair. His skin was pale but not so pale that he looked like walking paper. Grant was a tad shorter than Seth at 6'1'' and Seth never let him forget it. He was the captain/quarterback of the football team, (sadly) but he was also super sweet. All in all, Grant is the sexiest, most handsome human being to ever grace the Earth.
Yes, we are quite the group. The cheerleader. The bad boy. The nerd. The football player.
Carly. Platinum blonde, shoulder-length hair. Blue eyes. 5'9''. All you need to know is she is a basic white girl. Only nicer.
"Yeah I guess so," Grant sighed.
Speak of the devil, Carly came up to us.
"Hey babe," she pecked Grant on the cheek then turned her attention to the rest of us, "Hey Seth, Steph, Lain."
"Hey sweetheart," Grant replied.
We made small talk until our teacher, Mr. Bodi, walked in the room.
"Good morning, class!"
"Good morning, Mr. Bodi," the class replied suspiciously. There had to be a reason for his unusual good mood.
"So today you are going to have a project and I will assign your partners," the class groaned as he said that, "This project is due in two days, which is Wednesday. There will be a test on Thursday regarding the knowledge on the project. The guidelines are in this handout that I am passing out now."
I was praying to God that I would get either Seth or Grant as my partner. Lord forbid I get one of those obnoxious football or basketball jocks. especially Nathan. He has had a crush on me since forever, but I keep rejecting him. He says 'it's bad for his rep' whenever I reject him, so he's 'stopped liking me.' We both know that that is not true. Whenever I'm alone-like at the mall or grocery store-he'll constantly follow me around asking for me to date him. I, obviously, always reject him.
Anyway, for the project we had to do a timeline of what we learned last year. Great. Perfect. Spectacular. I don't remember anything from last year. Let's hope I get a nerdy partner.
Mr. Bodi started talking again, "Okay, the partners for this class will be..."
I, then, tuned out like I always do until I heard my friends' or my name are called.
"...Stephanie with Seth..."
I groan. Great. Now I'm praying for Grant.
"...Grant and Alex and, last but not least, Alaina and Nathan," Mr. Bodi smiles, "Now, two days get to work. Chop chop."
Great. Perfect. Spectacular.
