Okay. WHAT?!? This is so confusing:
1. Steph and Grant are fake dating.
2. Grant fucking likes me?!?
I walk outside the school and call Grant. He answers, "Hey."
"Hi. I'm just making sure that you are taking me to your place still," I remind him.
"Oh shit, Lain. I totally forgot. I made plans with Steph today..." he trailed off.
Stay calm, Lain. He's playing hard to get. They. Aren't. Really. Dating.
"Lain? Are you there?" Grant's voice snapped me out of my trance.
"Yeah, sorry. It's fine that you made plans. I'll call Seth and see if he wants to hang out," I replied, maybe a little too fast.
"Oh...okay. Maybe we can work on the project tomorrow?"
"Yep. Should work for me. I'll tell you if anything comes up."
"Ok. Great. Bye," he said.
"See y-," I was interrupted by my phone signaling that the person on the other end had ended the call.
I then texted Seth.
(A/n this is from the POV of Lain's phone)
To Seth:
Hey. Grant cancelled me last minute.😕Think you could come over?🙃I wait for his response which came quickly.
From Seth:
Sure, love.😉Are you at your house? To Seth:
No, Grant was supposed to take me home. Can you come pick me up?From Seth:
That son of a bitch. I swear, he doesn't even know how to treat women.I rolled my eyes at his comment. I heard my ringtone and saw another text from Seth.
From Seth:
I'll be there in a few. Are you at school? To Seth:
YepFrom Seth:
Ok. See you then.I read his message and got out my book. I sat on the curb and read until Seth came. I was so engrossed in my book that I didn't hear Seth's car pull up. Nor did I hear him coming up behind me. Scared. Book. You do the math.
"HOLY SHIT! What the hell was that for, woman?" Seth shouted. It was a really big book.
"You scared me!! Plus you should be the one apologizing. You made me lose my page!" I said whilst flipping through the pages in my book ferociously.
"God. You're such a nerd," he stressed, annoyed. I glared at him and continued flipping. Seth sighed, as if he was giving up on something.
"Come on, bookworm. We gotta go," Seth said. I ignored him and continued looking through pages for my spot.
You're probably wondering why it was taking me so long to find my spot. It may or may not have been because I started skimming the pages. And I may or may not have gotten interested in the parts I'd already read. And I may or may not be reading my book over again.
All of the sudden, Seth gently grabbed my chin and kissed me. It was a light, feathery kiss, but I was in shock that he kissed me so I didn't kiss him back. I pulled back quickly and pushed him away slightly.
