I know you like Grant. And I know how you can get him.
What? How did she know? Did I make it that obvious? All these thoughts flew through my head. I turned around to look at the girl, but she was already looking at the teacher acting like nothing happened. I ripped a sheet of paper from my notebook I had been doodling in. On the paper I wrote:
Ok, meet me in the library at lunch.
I acted like I was grabbing a tissue and slid the paper on her desk. She opened it and winked at me. I'm guessing that meant okay.

After another two periods of torture, I told Steph I had to do some research for that bloody history project and went to the library to talk to pixie girl.
She was already there when I walked in. I strode up to her and awkwardly cleared my throat to get her attention. She looked up and stuck her hand out.
"Hey, I'm Kayla. Now, I know you're wondering how I knew you liked Grant. I am going to tell you, but first, you must swear you won't tell or talk about this to anyone but Seth. Can you promise that?"
"I promise," I said.
"Good. Seth, you can come out now," Seth came out and I was beyond confused. What's going on?
"I can tell by your face you are completely and utterly confused. Well, Seth and I were really good friends, but I had to move to Portland for my dad's job. Now, our family moved back to Panama City Beach. Anyway, about our pl-" Seth cut Kayla off.
"And, Lain, before you ask why I didn't tell you about her, it's because I was extremely sad and didn't want to be reminded of it," I reached out and grabbed his hand. "Okay. Sorry, K. You can finish."
"Thank you, though I don't need your permission. So about the plan...first, I guess you should know the backstory of why I want to get back at that bitch. So the year before I moved away, which was kindergarten, we were playing truth or dare. Someone dared me to kiss Grant. Everyone knew I was a complete introvert and that Carly "had a crush" on him. But I knew I would be teased if I didn't kiss him so I gave him a quick peck on the cheek. From then on Carly made my life living hell until I left for Portland. That's why I want to get back at her."
I took a second to digest that information. It seemed weird that someone as nice as Carly could be so mean. I guess after Kayla left, she changed.
"So what are you suggesting? How can I get Grant?"
Seth answered instead of Kayla, "Since it's obvious that Grant likes you," He does?, "to make him jealous, I will fake-date you."
He looked at me like a proud kindergarten boy who had just shown his mother his drawing for art. And I probably looked like a mother wondering what exactly her son had drawn.
"Okay, WHAT?!? How is that even going to work? What if people see right through us? What if Grant sees right through us? This could end so badly. We can't do this. No. Wait. YOU might be able to, I definitely CAN NOT. What were you two even think-" My rant was cut off by Seth putting a hand over my mouth.
"Listen. We can come out on social media. We'll do it tonight. Which means I should probably ask you out..."
I was astonished. Was THE Seth Redford nervous? It was almost a laughing matter.
