Lassitude ~39
Peter Mendes' pov
I watch as my aunt makes her way up the stairs upset. This is the second time I've seen her today like this and it worries me. Jack says something quietly to his wife before going after her and I see Nash and Matt going up also. The rest are down here talking quietly as I look towards the door where my dad went.
"Peter..." Cooper says worriedly. "We should go to the kitchen or the backyard until your mom gets here." I look down at my casted leg then at Cooper. I notice Sophia's eyes are wide from everything going on and her older sister, who I forgot her name is sitting by the couch on her phone.
"I'm... going to talk to my dad," I say softly and start to slowly make my way for the door. I am unnoticed as I walk out and towards the pathway towards the vehicles.
I see my dad putting luggage into the bag of a trunk and I see he's very mad.
"D-Dad?" I ask lightly. He glances my way before he continues to put the next luggage into the truck.
"Peter, I can't be here right now," he says sounding frustrated.
"What about me?" He sighs as he closes the trunk.
"Your mom will make sure I never see you again if I take your right now."
"You're going to leave me here? I just met you and I don't want you to go away."
"Look," he says sounding very distracted. "I just met you today. I'm still in shock and I need to let this whole thing sink in for a little bit. I wish your mom would have at least told me about you. I'm just so mad at her and with your uncle Cam. I really need to get away for right now."
"Maybe we could talk to my mom now and mayb-"
"No, absolutely not. You were literally a bomb that unexpectedly dropped on me today."
My eyes shifts towards the ground. In a way it feels like my dad wouldn't want me from the words he is saying. It's also means that I wasn't a planned child and I am here by an accident.
"Are you going to come back for me?" I ask quietly.
"I don't know Peter. Can I please just get my family out of here right now? I really don't want to be here." But I'm here. Your son.
"I... guess so." He walks past me and inside towards his house where I'm guessing he's going to get his daughter. I take my phone out sadly and look for my mom's contact number. I press it and wait for my mom to pick up. Instead, it reaches her voicemail and I hang up, putting my phone back into my pocket.
Slowly, I start to make my way inside. When I get inside, I notice the living room and stairway is clear. I hear voices from down the hall and I guess that is where everyone else went. I start to my way up the stairs by hopping on one foot and carrying my crutches in the other.
Once I'm at the top, I make my way down the hall to my aunts room. It's still wrapping around my head that she's my aunt, because she's my dad's sister. This whole time Cam, has been my uncle and I have family here. Ryan and Grace are my cousins.
Riley Dallas' pov
"Ri, Please calm down," Jack pleads. My hands are shaking and I'm falling apart in front of the three of them in a way I'm not sure how. They know I'm freaking out and breaking in the inside. They can tell by my expression.
"This is not good for you or the baby," Nash says worriedly.
"We'll try to fix this," Matt says softly.
