"I set fireeeeeeeeee, to the raaaaaaaaain! Watched it pooour as I, touched your faaaace." I belt out to my headphones as I knead the pizza dough on the metal counter I'm standing in front of. "Well it buurned and I criied cause I heeard it screeaming out your name, your naaaaaaaame." I throw my head and shut my eyes as I sing the slow yet intense song. I keep singing, moving my hips as I do so and start shaping the dough into a perfect circle. I only stop singing when someone taps me, making me jump and take out one of the buds. "Niall, I hate to interrupt your personal concert," I roll my eyes. "But I have to deal with this order the delivery truck messed up so will you take over the front?" Jay, the manager, asks as she bumps up the big the box she's carrying. "Sure, need help with that first?" I look from the box to her. "No I'm fine just go do it please." I wipe my hands on my white apron before I go out to the front, where there's a three person line. Well now I'm embarrassed, they heard me singing.
"What can I get ya?" I ask the first in the line, a older blonde woman, about 65 or so. "Three pepperoni pizza's please." She smiles, handing me the paper thats the receipt, which means that she ordered the pizza's before-hand. I take the paper and examine it, going to the mini oven where the re-ordered pizza's are sitting in so they remain warm. I take the three pizzas with the twinning receipt taped to it. I check all three pizza's just to make sure they all match the order before I give it to the woman. "Thank you." She smiles, taking the boxes. "You're welcome, have a nice day." I smile back, greeting the next preson. This time it looks a college student, a Sophmore or Junior. "A Hawaiin pizza." He asks, taking out his wallet. As I get his pizza, hoping there's a pre-made one in the oven, he makes some small talk.
"Were you the one singing back there?" I feel my face heat up. I don't even know if I'm good. I mean, I've heard myself in a recording and I would say I'm pretty decent, but I don't know what other people think. "Uh, yeah that was me." I chuckle, trying not to seem too embarrassed when in actuality I'm off the charts humiliated. I would prefer if people wouldn't have to see me after my self performance.
"You're really good." I grin as I set the only pre-made Hawaiin pizza on the counter. "Thank you." He nods and hands some bills. "Keep the change." He stuffs his wallet in his pocket, nodding and giving me another grin as he picks up the pizza. "Thank you," I smile, shocked at the sudden act of kindness. "Have a good one." I call out. He shouts a 'you too', using his arse to open the door.
The third customer, he is the most attractive bloke I've ever seen. He has brown curly hair, emerald eyes and tan skin with perfect pink lips, a flawless smirk to match them. It suddenly becomes really hot and I feel nervous all over. This guy has a real effect on me.
"Um, w-what can I get you?" I stutter, even more embarrassed by my sudden change in moods. "Do you sell personal size pizzas?" He asks, taking two bigs steps to the counter. "Um, well, uh," My brain is empty, I can't think of anything my brain is just a big fart. "Um, Jay!" I call, looking at Jay who's still talking to the delivery guy. "Do you make personal size pizzas?" I ask her, out of the blokes eyesight. Jay nods her head. I return to the counter. "S-sorry uhm, yeah we do." I nervously run my hands along the counter. "Can I get a pepperoni one please?" He asks, twitching an eyebrow. "Course, just-" I make a ticket for him, even though no one else is here, and hand it to him. He takes it with a thank you and sits in a chair.
Rushing, I cut the full size pizza dough I was making before into a smaller one, spreading tomatoe sauce all over it and covering it with loads of cheese. I quickly toss pepperoni's all over it and stuff it into the oven. I take a quick peek out to where the bloke is waiting, watching him scroll on his phone for a few seconds before I shake my head and put my headphones back in. The song is now Change Me by Justin Bieber. I love this song.
"Girl I'm ready, if you're ready now. Who is it ever gonna be? If you're with it then I'm with it now. To accept a resposibilityyyyy. I'd go out of, my wayy. To live by the words that you saaay. I don't wanna be the saaaaame. oh nooo. Maybe you could, chaaaaaange mee. Maybe you could, chaaaange mee. oooooh. Maybe you could be the liiight. That opens up my eeeyess. Make all the wroongs riiiiiight? Chaaaange me. Chaaaange mee. Don't fight firee with fireeee. If I'm screamin' talk quieteeer. Understaning patience, feel the pain that I'm faaciiiing. Be like serenityyyy. Help me possess in my miiiind. Take a chaance, make a difference! My looooooove. Maybe you could chaaange me.Maybe you cold, chaaa-aange me. Maybe you could be the liiiight. That opens up my eeeyes. Make all the wrongs riiight. Chaaange mee.Chaaange mee. Girl I'm ready if you're read nooow. Whoooo is it ever gonna beee? If you're with it then I'm with it giiiiirl."
The short song ends, and so does my singing. Until the next song plays; Love by Matt White. And of course, I can't not sing along. I also drum to the beat.
"And looooooove. Such a silly game we plaaaaay oh. Like a summers day in may what is love? What is love? I just wanted to be looooved. Oh oh, oh. And I-i-i-i-i, I can feel it in your kiiiiiiiss. It just gives me tender bliss what is love? What is loove I just wanted to be looooved. Oh oh, oh. When I feeeel, you arouuund I was mad as hell when I hit the ground. When I seeee, you laugh away, it hurts but I just won't say. ohoh oh. Loooove. Who can tell me I am loooost. I just think that I am strong what is love? What is loove I just wanted to be loooved. Ooohh ohh."
I pause for the piano solo, checking on the pizza.
"When I feeel, you arouund, I was so upset, we fell on the grouuund. When I seee, you mad at meee, it was such a silly feeeeling. Ooooooohooooooo loooooove. Such a silly game we plaaay. It's like a summers day in Maaay what is love what is loove I just wanted to be looooved. And I-i-i-i-i, I can feel it in our kiiiiiss. It is something I will miss what is love? What is loove I just wanted to be looooved."
Some more songs play, such as Rhythum of Love and Viva La Vida, before the pizza is done and ready for the handsome bloke waiting to eat it. I decide that, since I most likely won't see him again, I'll slip a cheeky note to him from me.Stealing a green stickypaper, I pop the lid of a Sharpie and I write a message on it, signing it with my name. I stick it to the top of the box and shut it, putting his ticket number on the surface of the now warm box.
"Here ya are." I place the box on the counter, my earbuds hanging out of my shirt. The guy stands up and stuffs the ticket in his pocket, putting a ten on the counter plus a five. "Um, this is only seven bills?" I state, handing him the five. He shakes his head, refusing to take it. "You keep it. Thanks for the live concert." The handsome folk gives me a gold medal smirk as he heads for the door. "You forgot your change." I hold it out. Again, a head shake. "For the ticket." Is his last words before exiting the shop, walking down the street. I smile, putting the extra cash in my pocket with the other kind gentleman's.
Putting my earbuds back in, with a goofy smile on my face, I continue the one man kareoke party whilst making more pizza.
