Author's POV

"Jane," Kimberley lightly shook her daughter in hopes to wake her up "it's time to get up." Kimberley said as she saw the teen's eyes slightly flutter open.

"Good Morning, sleepy." Kimberley sat beside Jane on the bed and ran her hands through the teen's hair.

"I need you to get dressed and come downstairs, okay?" Kimberley asked her sleepy daughter, only getting a nod in return.

"Okay, don't fall back asleep on me." Kimberley warned Jane, making the teen sit up.  Kimberley kissed her cheek, causing Jane to smile.

Jane finally woke herself up and went to her ensuite.  She did all of her essential tasks and went over to her closet.  Having a walk-in closet is very new to Jane, she's never even had a full closet before. The teen picked out a new pair of overly-ripped 'mom-jeans'.  She rolled up the bottom a few times and slipped on a white t-shirt.  The shirt was slightly short and showed a small part of her stomach.  Jane matched the outfit with a white pair of adidas with black stripes.  You know, the basic ones that everyone has.

The teen grabbed her phone and rushed down the hallway.  She walked down the stairs as Cheryl and Kimberley came out of the kitchen.

"We have somewhere to take you." Cheryl said, making Jane's heart pick up in speed.  She just wanted to stay home and became scared that it may not be home anymore.

"Where?" Jane hesitantly asked, knowing that she's going back to the care home.  Dyslexia plus emotional baggage equals back to the care home she goes.

"You'll see." Kimberley said, not realizing what her daughter is thinking.  They all walked out to the car, Jane trying to distract herself from bursting into tears.

The couple smiled and giggled the whole way there, imagining Jane's excited face.  On the other hand, Jane is absolutely frightened of their journey.  She didn't even want to look out the window and see the familiar parking lot.

"Here we are!" Kimberley shrieked, confusing Jane.  The teen looked out the window and saw a dog shelter sign.

"What are we doing here?" Jane asked, completely confused as Kimberley grabbed her daughter's hand and pulled her out of the car.  They walked up to the front door and walked in.  The immediate smell of dogs filled their noses, making Jane cringe.  She loves dogs as much as the next person, but god that smell is so rank.

"Hi, we're looking to adopt today." Kimberley told the lady at the front desk, confusing the teen.

"Right that way." The woman pointed to a door with a sign that says 'Dogs and Puppies'. They made their way into the secluded room and had found themselves in a room full of loose puppies.

Jane freely walked around the room, separating from her mother and Cheryl. They all played with puppies for awhile until Jane found two that she liked.

"Look, those two love her!" Kimberley walked over to her girlfriend and pointed to Jane. The teen is currently playing with two puppies - a German shepherd and a white Alsatian.

"Well she better choose one 'cause there's no way we're bringing home two dogs." Cheryl shook her head at Kimberley, not wanting to take care of two puppies.
