Author's POV

"Cheryl?" Jane called out into the bonus room of the large house. She saw that the door, that's usually closed, is wide open.

"Yeah, babe?" Cheryl turned around and walked out of the bonus room. She had a frame in her hand and smiled at Jane.

"Aw, your hair is so curly today." Cheryl looked at the teen's hair and ran her hand through it. It was smooth and her fingers ran right through it.

"Yeah, it does that sometimes." Jane smiled widely and yet again blushed at Cheryl's affection. Cheryl noticed the blushing and kissed the teen's rosy cheeks.

"It's very cute." Cheryl said and closed the bonus room door behind them.

"What's that?" Jane asked and Cheryl showed her the frame. There was an old photo of Kimberley and Cheryl from the 'Girls Aloud Days'.

"It's an old photo of me and your mother. Her birthday is on the twentieth-" Cheryl said, explaining why she grabbed the picture.

"The twentieth? That's in like a week!" Jane started to panic, beating herself up for forgetting.

"Don't freak out, I'm putting your name next to mine." Cheryl said and put her arm around the teen. Jane giggled and walked down the hall with Cheryl. When they got to the stairs, Cheryl sent Jane to distract Kimberley in case she walked in on Cheryl preparing the present.

"Kimberley, can we talk?" Jane nervously walked into the kitchen and caught her mother's attention. As long as she's distracting, may as well kill two birds with one stone. The teen has been meaning to talk to her mother about some things.

"Uh-oh. Whenever you call me Kimberley, I know I'm in trouble." Kimberley giggled, but straightened up when she saw Jane's serious expression.

"I just want to talk about some important things." Jane tried to start her conversation with her mother, but can't find the right words.

"Okay, go ahead." Kimberley put down the towel she was using to dry the dishes and gave her daughter her full attention.

"I really need you to listen." Jane urged, knowing that Kimberley has a habit of cutting in.

"I'm all ears, I promise." Kimberley stepped closer to her daughter and tried to see what was wrong. Kimberley could tell that something was distracting the teen.

"So, lately I've been thinking about something." Jane still stretched out her conversation, stalling to save time from speaking her mind. Foster parents never allowed the teen to do that, so Jane is still learning how to handle these types of situations.

"Okay." Kimberley inched closer to her daughter and reached out to touch her hand. Jane took a step back, regretting it when she saw the hurt on Kimberley's face.

"Listen, I really like living here and I want this to be permanent. But, there's a few things that need to change..." Jane said and tried to come across everything as light as possible.

"Like what?" Kimberley became concerned and saw the wondering that was going on in Jane's mind.

"You know, when you hint about my name being Annie? I just..." Jane trailed off and shook her head. The teen didn't know what to say and that made Kimberley answer for her.
